First, there's the utter hypocrasy of these socialist watermelons. Still, they know how to pull off a heist.

The 'modest' package of climate projects negotiated at the flesh pots of Cancun will make the biblical amount of 100 billion dollar change hands, payble till 2020 by the Western tax payer and receivable by the developing world.

How's that for global socialism?

This is justifiied by our 'climate debt', sustained since the Industrial Revolution, which gave us civilization as we know it.

How the Dutch Establishment Defused Geert Wilders

Slowly but surely it's becoming clear how the Dutch elite, commonly referred to as 'the regents', led by Her Majesty and her chief advisor, the all powerful Vice President of the Council of State, 'Vice Roy' Herman Tjeenk Willink (in truth an ordinary socialist, career politician), have neutralized the election results in which the right wing liberal party (VVD) and Islam critic, Geert Wilders emerged as winners.

A majority right wing coalition with the Christian Democrates (CDA) was initially indicated, probably with the support of two minor Christian parties. But the CDA were the major losers in this election and assumed the role of modest bystander.

The CDA sports a vocal left wing, as well as a host of transnational progressivist elderly statesmen, of which Ruud Lubbers is a prime specimen. All vehemently oppose the Wilders agenda. The party declined to participate in talks. Seen in current light, this was probably part of the strategy.

Labour leader, Job Cohen had been spreading memes even before the elections that the Wilders agenda is "touching the edges of the rule of law". Which is a chutzpah, considering it's the postmodern 'regents' in the Justice Dept., the judiciary and in the multicultural, red/green cabal that is appointing them, that are a clear and present danger to the rule of law. Present story is a typical example of their anti-democratic, authoritarian mindset.

But facts and reality are irrelevant to these people. They are obsessed with their own subjective reality, the narrative they've constructed in which Wilders is a fascist and an enemy of the rule of law. This also helps explain, that while Public Prosecutors declined to procecute Wilders for "group offence" (insulting Muslims), a special anti-discrimination Court found reason to go after him nonetheless.

The socialist 'Vice Roy' is playing a central role in the controlled detonation of the Wilders explosive device. The key to this drama was recently discovered by a republican blogger (Hat Tip: Naar De Knoppen). An article entitled "The Constitutional Coup of State" on weblog ProRepublica states:

The answer lies in the last sentence of para C1 of Tjeenk Willink's advice to Mrs Van Amsberg (Her Majesty's common name). On the basis of this advice the head of state ordered Messrs Rosenthal (the Liberal party negotiator) and Wallage (the Labour negotiator) to form a government with the parties referred to as Paars+*.

The secret is summed up in one short sentence: 'The countersignature on Parliamentary initatives are to be refused if the principles of the democratic rule of law, the international position of the Netherlands, or basic financial policies are at stake.

The Government can decline signing a Bill into law, even if it has the support of the majority in Parliament.(...) >>>

*Paars+ consists of a political immorality, enough to make Ayn Rand spin in her grave. It consists of the right wing Liberal VVD, Labour, and 2 more junior, red/green left wing parties. It's a horror cabinet in which the leftist bloc can easily neutralize the rightist austerity agenda.

The author of the article is obviously a fierce critic of 'Mrs Van Amsberg' and the cabal surrounding Her Majesty. He or she is asserting that "just about every subject" is covered by the three conditions summed up in the advice. I beg to differ. This is clearly a device solely meant to neutralize Wildersian initiatives.

The "principles of the democratic rule of law" is referring to international treaties and human rights covenants. Wilders wants to deport criminal immigrants and possible also citizens of foreign descend. He has also proposed an immigration moratorium for Muslim countries.

"The Internatonal position of the Netherlands" is in reference to recent threats by Jordan to prosecute Wilders and demands for explanations from other Muslim entities (my suspicion is the powerful OIC is also playing a role in the current prosecution of Geert Wilders). Dutch exporters in the private sector have also been quick to ditch liberty for sausages and dairy produce.

The final condition, where "basic financial policies are at stake" is even more sinister. Is there a Keynesian cabal as well at work, meant to undermine the right wing austerity program? Just what is going on here?

This isn't over. Not by a long chalk!

COP15: the Vortex of Global Socialism

Yesterday at COP15 (that's eco lingo for the Copenhagen Climate Conclave) European leaders signed off on "7.2 bn Euros* over the next three years to a fund to help developing nations adapt to climate change. Announcing the deal, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said all 27 EU member nations would contribute." (...) >>>

* That's peanuts compared to what is actually being claimed! Estimates range between $100 and $350 bn a year.

To those who labor under the illusion that it's just "government money", just wait till next tax day. Or your energy bills.

Perceptive followers of the news may be aware of a small scandal in the margins of COP15, dubbed "Climategate". It is a confirmation of what many long suspected: that there's a mechanism at work called "confirmation bias", if not - that downright fraud is taking place. Where politics and science meet, corruption ensues.

Others hold that anthropogenic global warming (AGW) can never be proved. It is a given that we will just have to accept as dogma, on the off chance that it's actually true (what was that about a pseudo religion?). It is also true that the universe isn't static: apart from the eternal laws of physics, things are changing all of the time - the climate - meaning: the composite of prevailing weather conditions in a given region (which is why "saving the climate" is such a ridiculous claim) is not exempted.

On this off chance leaders are pledging away billions of tax payers' money in a time of economic crisis and hand it over to developing or stagnant countries in the world, under the radar and as an alternative money stream, now that development aid is no longer an unquestioned form of global welfare.

The BBC is reporting that the G77 bloc of developing nations and China has reacted furiously to the EU offer. Lumumba Stanislaus-Kaw Di-Aping, representing the G77 has accused them of acting like "climate sceptics" (apparently as a replacement term of 'fascist!' now that warmists have claimed that ad hominem as their badge of honor).

He said during a news conference that "they are essentially saying that the problem does not exist. Their pledge does not address financing in its totality. We want to know where the money is coming from. Is it overseas development aid or not?"

Yes, we would also like to know!

"Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt (...) acknowledged that the pledges were "a combination of new and old resources".

"Almost all of the money is likely to be simply a relabelling of existing aid commitments," said Anne-Catherine Claude, of ActionAid."

"Oxfam EU climate change adviser Tim Gore was also disappointed. "(...) this money is not even new - it's made up of a recycling of past promises, and payments that have already been made," he added."

Arend Jan Boekestijn is a Dutch scholar and a subsciber to Douglass North, Wallis & Weingast's theory "Violence and Social Orders". (His article "Losing the war (in Afghanistan) is not an option" was posted here yesterday.)

Boekestijn's book "De Prijs van een Slecht Geweten" (The Price of a Bad Conscience) (Aspekt) hit the bookstores in the Netherlands just yesterday. He's making the case that development aid in its present form is doing more harm than good. He's doing so on the basis of the following arguments:

1. The moral hazard: the UN sends peace missions, the developed world healthcare and eduction. What's there left to do for a national Government? Sustainability and aid addiction?

2. The cause of poverty is bad governance (autocracies, Socialist experiments, theocracies, etc.) .

3. There's no clear correlation between aid and economic development.

4. Good governance ought to be a condition for debt relief.

5. More aid doesn't lead to better economic growth. There's no lack of capital in Africa, but capital in Africa has a how productivity.

6. Aid harms democratization: why raise taxes when aid keeps poring in? No taxation, no representation. To which we may add: erroneously applied, democracy may actually legitimize tyrants, and pernicious collectivist regimes.

7. Aid leads to a hard local currency at the expense of exports.

8. Aid is supporting evil regimes and oppressors.

It's an interesting study and we'll be back on this issue shortly.

But while the Marxist poverty narrative is proved false, the combined forces of transnational progressivism and climatism are ensuring that a parallel stream of money keeps poring into the vortex of global Socialism.

Obama, As Good As His Word (on GITMO)

Bringing the 9/11 Soldiers of Allah to a civilian Court in New York - a thousand yards removed from where the towers once proudly stood - was one of the most cherished wishes of the anti America front, from tranzie centrists, to the dimwitted Left and the mentally debilitated anti war brigade.

Now, in power, President Obama is as good as his pre election word - on this point at least.

Apparently with a reference to their occupation of choice in the world of business, the victims of 9/11 in the eyes of psychotic postmodernists are merely "little Eichmanns", dimishing their interests to the point of irrelevance. Moreover, the wish to see politically correct justice done trumps New York as a prime platform for an Islamist propaganda tool. So Attorney-General Eric Holder announced this week to go ahead with it anyway.

The message came against the backdrop of four recently averted terrorist assaults, and the media spectable surrounding the Fort Hood massacre which practically resulted in a parallel reality, so unshaken is the constructed narrative.

All the evidence of Muslim involvement was censored into oblivion; Pre Traumatic Stress Syndrome was spontaneously discovered. To date the narrative is that the Major is a lone, isolated, over-worked and under-paid psychopath of which there are many, many others. The "logic": if you are able to willfully ignore the evidence of terrorist infrastructure behind the attack, the theory of a lone loon stands. Any sleeper cells or self-ignitors can rest assured they will ever be connected to Islamic terrorism.

No one has as yet acknowledged, let alone commented or explained, the truly amazing coincidence of Major Hasan being on the Obama transition team. You can't make this stuff up!

The greatest insight into the Muslim mindset came from Major Hasan himself: he thought Muslim military personnel should be exempted from deployment in Iraq or Afghanistan because obviously "Muslims shouldn't be killing Muslims", something they do on a daily basis on a heartwrenching scale justifying it by religious ordainment; but it also implies the message, it's okay to kill anyone else.

There's really no advantage in having the trial of the 9/11 terrorists in New York, other than the Obama throwing his far Leftist base a bone. The prosecution of CIA operatives apparently has whetted their heavily politized appetites (the Left loves purges).

It's all the holier-than-thou attitude of transnational ideology at the expense of the safety of the American people (all bigoted, middle class Eichmanns, so who cares?). As if justice by military Tribunal is somehow inferior to justice brought by a civilian Court.

Needless to say that the progressive transnationalists assembled in the UN and NGO'ism are mumbling approval. This is after all what the revulsion of the Bush administration was all about. But they won't have to bear the responsibilities of the umpteeth consecutive mistake piled on by Team Obama.

Of the many reasons why this counts as another enormity, let's just highlight one aspect in particular: to abandon the War on Terrorism paradigm for a matter of law enforcement. As Dr Walid Phares, Fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies explains, the 9/11 Commission itself defined the event an act of war and found the US at fault for not having determined it as such.

Caroline Glick in an unrelated case recently explained the mistake of handling terrorism as a law enforcement issue. As it happens, Team Obama just nixed the Global War on Terror paradigm altogether, substituting it for an array of vacuous, postmodern epithets of the Hope-and-Change variety.

Listing the overwhelming disadvantages of this course of action is enough to make you want to drop out of the discourse, like Red Square, who's seen it all happen before back in the USSR. He's showing it for what it is, and getting a wee bit snarky:

Red-Green Radicalism Sprouted Wings!

With nefarious bankers and the evil capitalistic system being blamed for the economic melt down without taking into consideration the corrupting influence of governmental legislation (Community Reinvestment Act) that compelled financial private sector players to trade in social security services, Left and Right statists and progressive NGOs are crawling out of the woodwork to pounce upon the crypto Neo Commie windfall that holds the world in its grip.

What have we got? The G7, G8, G20 ... whatever; the Obama Government in the US with its massive socialization operation; the UN and its never ending machinations to grab global governance, redistribute wealth on a world-wide scale while it foists existential carbon debt upon the West; the upcoming Treaty of Copenhagen that makes Kyoto look like the Bill of Rights by comparison. As if that was not enough, we are now haunted by the ghost of Christmas Past in the body of the Club of Rome.

This troglodyte from the prehistory of environmentalism is meeting this week in Amsterdam to see how they can exploit the fortunate constellation of circumstances to its fullest extent. This may well be their last chance for world Socialism! Lord Monckton has recently suggested that those who piled from the Berlin Wall, piled straight into the Green movement. This makes sense, also without Michael Gorbachev, former President of the Soviet Union, founder of the Green Cross International and co-founder of Earth Charter as the unsung hero of the convention.

The dialectic (economic version) was an early part of the Club's philosophy. After its founding in 1968 the historic annals report that: "In 1972 the campaigning of this growing group of like-minded individuals gained a new worldwide reputation with the first report to the Club of Rome: "The Limits to Growth", commissioned by the Club from a group of systems scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Report explored a number of scenarios and stressed the choices open to society to reconcile sustainable progress within environmental constraints."

To the Left everything is a zero sum game! In the end their predictions were proven wildly off the mark, but lo and behold, type "wrong" and Club of Rome" into the Google search engine and the result is 3.640.000 hits, all assuring us that "they were right after all", "rehabilitated", or its tea-leaf reading deemed "with hindsight, spot on". These are the wonders of the Postmodern narrative: absolute truth does not exist, so reality is whatever you want it to be!

More curious news hit the transnationalist front this week: the launch in the Netherlands of a new group that self-identifies as a "development aid organization" meaning, "we are from the developed world and we are here to help". Only this lot thinks the Western Left as embodied in the world's NGOism, has been far too lenient with the world's dictators.

One is inclined to agree with them on this one, until the realization hits you that this group is potentially more radical and revolutionary than can possibly be beneficial. Perhaps they'll clarify their position further shortly, but from what is currently up on the website this may well portent a resurge of the radicalism we have seen in the past. There are harbingers that trend may indeed be the case.

The site is available in Dutch only. Given that their plans are blatantly out of line with the moral standard the Left holds for Western countries, until they've sorted that one, the participants for the moment decline to identify themselves. The About page of the New Involvement Foundation yields this information:

Yesterday Breitbart's The B-Cast had an interview with Lord Monckton on glowball warming, the climate racket, and the global coup and heist that is on the covert agenda of transnational progressivism and transnational corporatism.

Or in conspiracy terms, the new, postdemocratic world order of global socialism that is being built without anyone's consent, or us subjects even being informed about it, in the good tradition of the progressivism is being rammed down our throats one way or another.



About tranzism, the magic word here is "interconnectedness" and other code words for "mutual dependence". Europeans have heard it for decades without realizing the full extent of it. It's now gone global and the beast of super state, Leviathan is poised for the kill.

Cosmology and Aim of the Progressive Narrative (I)

Glenn Beck has done a great job identifying the Progressive Movement as, what is to all intents and purposes, what Carl Marx called "the vanguard": a cohort of the higher and middle classes who ostensibly declared solidarity with the proletariat and is said to labor on its behalf. Yet few commentators have been able to piece together what underlies the Progressive narrative: the constructed cosmology and the ultimate goal that propels it forward.

The narrative is based on Marx's erratic dogma which consisted in a dualistic world view, in which the middle classes solely exist by virtue of oppressing the lower classes. The plebeian struggle against this bourgeois exploitation is what creates progress and propels the world forward: the more violent and the bloodier, the better (improvement through struggle and suffering).

A conservative estimate has it that to date some 110 million souls have been sacrificed on the altars of the progressivist ideal. Notable in this regard are the contributions in Russia and Eastern Europe, China, Southeast Asia and swathes of Latin America. Few realize (Michael Moore!) that terror and mass murder are part of the theory and not a mere matter of collateral damage. 

The dualistic  mechanism for progress is rooted in Kant's and Hegel's dialectics that preceded Marxism. Hegel was a follower of Kant, Marx a follower of Hegel. This dualism foresees in veering from one extreme (thesis) to the next (antithesis), resulting in a compromise or a fusion of the two (synthesis). This process may in principle be ongoing ad infinitum and is supposed to culminate in an Utopian world government, an event almost on a par with Christ's Second Coming.

In Marxism the occurrance got an atheist character and was defined as World Socialism, as humanity reaches ethical perfection and the dictatorial structures of State are no longer required to keep it in its place - the so-called "withering of the State".

An early student of the progressive striving for the new world order in modern times is John Fonte, Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute who coined the term transnational progressivism. He calls the adherents lovingly, tranzies. They live in international organizations, NGOs and the world's enlightened elite who self-identify as "global citizens". The narrative they are laboring to establish, is to render the existence of borders as 'immoral' and taboo national identity, and expressions of patriotism. 

All strands of thought underlying it are necessarily relativist. It is the only principle leading to the moral equivalence of democracies and tyrannies, of religions leading to enlightenment with those thrusting people into prehistorical enslavement, of hottentot society on a par with technically advanced, etcetera, etcetera. It is evident that nations with clear ideas about good and bad will have a hard time coming to grips with transnational progressivism.

Those already looking forward to the One World Utopia must realise that this withering of the State comes about through principles that have nothing to do with liberty, individual rights, or democratic principles. Far from it - the opposite is the case. This is a world made up by an imploded total State turned an inclusive collective, that of all human kind, meaning you are subjected to it whether you want to or not. Or - on a moral level - everybody in, nobody out and the noble aim justifies the means (or, in terms of health care reform: no choice but the public option).

With the arrival on the transnational scene of Barack Hussein Obama as the fusion President of the United States, bringing together in his person black and white, Africa and America, Christianity and Islam, this Utopian culmination may well be on the agenda much earlier than originally projected.

I am convinced that in many a Hegelian mind (which, mostly subconsciously, includes most Europeans) President Obama plays the part of the charismatic leader at the head of the UN as the ultimate government at the center of the new world order. No wonder to some he is quite literally the messiah.

Kant at least had the good sense to warn that the ideal could easily develop into the awfullest tyranny imaginable. His followers are all blinded by the light.

But at least now we understand what may have motivated the Nobel Committee when they awarded Obama the prize in honor of the inventor of dynamite as an 'encouragement', or in his own words, as "a call to action". After all, the idea behind the Peace Prize is the abolition of the standing army. We are therefore waiting with bated breath the Obama decision regarding the mission in Afghanistan: is it "the good war" that must be won, or is victory dispensible? Armies are for nations that have values to uphold: the new order holds no values, other than it's own existence for it's own sake.

Understanding that, it becomes apparent why the US needs to be pruned to size: one can see that the principles on which the United States is based, are contrary to the goal as set out by the tranzies. In this scenario a global Pax Americana of free, proud, autonomous and democratic countries has no place, just like the collective has no place for individuals and their rights.

Now we understand why freedom and democracy movements, like those in Iran, Tibet and Venezuela got tossed under the bus; and why the defense of the rule of law in Honduras is but a minor matter. The ultimate goal is so much higher than that! In the best traditions of statist collectivists the greater good is brought about by autocrats so much more efficiently than messy liberal democracies (ask the EU, who have their own struggle with the people to contend with!).

In the next instalment we'll dive into the theory and practice of the dialectics, which are rarely understood for what they are: a mechanism for the redistribution of wealth, rights and power. It's a narrative which has nestled in every pore and cavity of the Western world and few notice it's true purpose. Obama has brought together in his administration the best practitioners in this field the world has to offer.

A Short History of Bad Ideas (II): Blueprint for Paradise

So what is the origin of the terrible ideals that are supposed to deliver us paradise on earth, but give us hell instead?

We need to understand first of all that in Western culture the conceptual framework historically has been based on the ecclesiastical organizational model. God's proxy on earth i.e. the Church, reflects the cosmology of God as the central and omnipotent Ruler of Heaven, while an equally absolute, sacred power governs day-to-day business in the world of humans. In other words, before the invention of clubs and societies, people with paradigm shattering ideas set up rival pseudo religions.

This Christian 'cultural DNA' has been the model for a host of alternative philosophies, theories and concepts, aiming to recreate heaven on earth, or at least along the lines of their particular version of Paradise. Schools of thought - sometimes virulently Deist, agnostic or atheist - were recreated in this way, with its particular central theme in the role of the godhead: it gave birth to nationalism for example, in reverence to the nation; statism with the government at the center of worship; while Communism hailed the urban proletarian class, Nazism doted on Teutonic blood and soil; and so on, and so forth. The most 'successful' pseudo denominations cleverly incorporated and cultivated mystical memes into rituals, and social and political theory.

In France in 1842 Auguste Comte completed the ultimate irony in this respect: a vast pseudo religion called Positivism, an irrational, agnostic cult replete with pagan mysticism centered on reason and science (we've written about it some time ago when in search of the origins of postmodern self loathing). Even the fairly innocent fuzziness of Naturism - now categorized a lifestyle - as recently as the last century retained pseudo-religious elements.

While Utopianism and progressivism are features specific to the Counter-Enlightenment and to a lesser extent to the radical branch of the Enlightenment (more in a later part of this series), striving for the best possible world seems to have been part and parcel of the Western mindset since time immemorial.

Because of its success, building on Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman civilizations, and because discoveries hierarchically rest on earlier evidence - to Westerners the passage of time has the appearance of an endless time-line in which progress seems inevitable. But some who went before us might have burst this particular bubble: historical evidence points in another direction: that every civilization at some time comes full circle (also read "Understanding Change" by Dr Sam Holliday of the Armiger Cromwell Center). Even the megalomaniac Adolf Hitler thought a thousand years was the outside limit of his Third Reich!

Back to our secular pseudo religions, it is hard to draw the line where all these forms of inclusive and exclusive collectivism lead relatively harmless lives - say limited to fund-raising for needy brothers and sisters, ritualistic mumbo jumbo and other such activities - and where precisely the threshold is crossed to more pernicious developments. Where's the point that the hive mentality becomes lethal? The true believers will always advocate the extreme and go beyond the tipping point in seach of their Utopia.

Collectives come in two variations: those who want to keep their club exclusive to those of ethnic, geographical or religious identity or characteristic; the inclusive ones are more universal in nature and seek to forcibly include others in their tribe. For the latter a line definitely not to cross, is moving from voluntary participation to compulsory incorporation; or worse, when submission to the whole becomes the individual's moral duty, in effect making dissent a vice and coercion a virtue. For the exclusive variety a culture of intolerance and supremacy at the expense of others marks the boundary of acceptable behavior. But one might ask the scorpion, why does he sting.

It should be noted that no cultural relativism is required for the rest of us to prevent either variety from spinning out of control. Quite the contrary! Now's the time for defending the good standing between us and potentially evil collectives: liberty!

In the transnational setting a relentless drive is being exerted to shift rights from individuals to collectives. It's a retrogressive trend supported by a coalition of collectivists - Muslim religionists and their postmodern allies. One tactic thrown into the battle is transfering reponsibility away from the citizen to the (nanny) state. It will require ceaseless vigilance if we are to preserve individual freedom for future generations. 

Collectivism can best be understood in terms of a tribe. A tribe is a totalitarian society in miniature. The original purpose of living in 'flocks' is the natural protection of safety in numbers, but then something goes haywire. The bullies take over and become an elite. They say the tribe exists for its own sake or for the sake of the leaders, who by then claim demigod status so they can use the group for their own dark purposes. The personal lives of the hive members - already irrelevant to the whole - are forcibly put into the service of the entire group and its elite.

Now, one particular philosopher of the Counter-Enlightenment - Jean-Jacques Rousseau - had very romanticized ideas about the tribal way of life. Instead he saw advanced civilization as the source of evil: culture only serves to corrupt the naturally good inclinations of man, or so he thought. To Rousseau, no disease ridden hobbit abodes, no mass starvation and elderly, aged thirty; no human sacrifices, head shrinking, scalping, witch hunts, trials by fire and water, or brutal warfare and the ravaging of maidens! Leaving his deluded ideal of man in his primitive state at that, would have been bad enough!

In order to appreciate the evil nature of what Rousseau thought up next, a proper understanding of the following is necessary. What brought him to it we'll never know: the totem or tribal spirit, some mystical notion regarding 'group souls', or a Plato inspired quest for the whereabouts of abstractions perhaps? Enlightenment chronicler Jonathan Israel (“Radical Enlightenment” p. 720) just mentions Rousseau was “elaborating in close dialogue with predecessors”, while underscoring that his is a “far more developed conception” than Spinoza's or Diderot's ...

... Rousseau furnished his collective with a living animus of its own which he called 'common will'. How it might be tapped is unspecified, but it is supposed to find its realization in the context of “civil society under the state“.

At this point it gets worse: Rousseau's animus is not just infallible, it also has the monopoly on moral judgment; moreover, its verdict is absolute. Rousseau fanatically opposed the ethics systems of tradition and revealed religion, but of the moral relativism posited by other Deists, he wanted no part!

Rousseau's public animus, the collective 'common will' is of an altogether different nature than the collective individuals' 'common good': it is the only criterion for moral judgment, leading to the conclusion that man has “the obligation” (meaning that it is enforcible) “to subject himself to the sovereignty of what serves the interests of society as a whole” (p. 720).

Enter the modern, totalitarian collective we heard so much about, specifically during the first half of the last century. Unfortunately for millions and millions of victims (Part I), the human sacrifices to the hive and its leadership, Rousseau's vile idea of an organic, ethical collective has inspired many, including an American hero of environmentalism, as we shall see later on in this series.

Transnationalism: Manmade Disaster or 'Evolution'

In the present discussion with Carl Rove and John Bolton at Glenn Beck's we see the ongoing disaster known as transnationalism clearly presented as a manmade process: it is pushed by people and politicians with an agenda.

According to others a world government is the logical outcome as man progresses on his way through history and evolution.

This meme is the result of a two centuries old phantasy, a theory set out by the reactionary philosophers Kant and Hegel who saw it as the outcome of man passing through history, bringing himself on higher levels of morality through strife and struggle.

This dualism has come to us in the form of the Marxist dialectic, which was based on Hegel's dialectic. On that basis one might say, Transnationalism is world Socialism by the backdoor.

At least Kant had the foresight to accompany his prediction with the caution that this world government might well be the "greatest tyranny ever seen". This is the state of affairs in the Third Millennium.

Open Letter on the Conferences of Shame

On March 6 last we posted on the file in Articles entitled "Transnational Bankruptcy" the news that - after the US, Israel and Canada - Italy has announced it too is pulling out of the racist hate-fest commonly referred to as Durban II.

At this moment the UK, France and the Netherlands are sitting on the fence, hoping against hope that antisemitism and Anti-Zionism will be struck from the final declaration.

From the shameful spectacle of the first Durban instalment, we know this is just not going to happen. The UN is increasingly a soapbox for entities actively combating universal values.

One group of Irish have had it. Tom Carew, Chairman of the Ireland-Israel Friendship League, has just submitted an open letter to the Irish Government.

We suggest that sympathetic readers whose governments belong to the fence dwelling nations, draft and send similar pamphlets to their leaders:

Canada, Israel, Italy, and USA [under President Obama] have already refused to
attend the UN "Durban II" Conference on Racism in Geneva in April, which is a follow-up to "Durban I" in 2001, which, on Arab and Muslim insistence, condemned only Israel, and, on African insistence, demanded huge Western reparations for slavery. As a result, USA and Israel walked out of "Durban I".

The current text of the Draft Outcome Document, for signature by all attending states, is "not salvageable", said the US State Dept. It:

[a] introduces the dubious, newly-invented notion of "defamation of religion", on Muslim insistence, which assaults freedom of speech, but does not endorse freedom to leave, practice or propagate any religion of your choice;

[b] again singles out only one State - Israel, for condemnation, as happened in 2001 at "Durban I";

[c] demands huge Western reparation for slavery;

[d] has a planning body chaired by Libya, that also includes Iran, Pakistan and Cuba on it; and

[e] includes attempts to counter Western efforts to combat terrorism.

The Canadian Immigration Minister, Jason Kenney, in a recent speech in UK, declared that the conference platform "runs counter to Canada's tradition as an international champion of tolerance". Canada, last year, was the first State to declare it would boycott "Durban II".

It seems worthwhile for all of us to urgently ensure that no EU state, nor the EU as such, takes any part in this hypocritical and sinister charade. Specifically, we urge the European Presidency to act according to its own guidelines and therefore boycott Durban II, and encourage European nations to follow suit. The chief planners for Durban II are a 20-strong panel, chaired by Libya and comprise a diverse group that includes countries ranked among the worst offenders of human rights, among them Iran, Pakistan and Cuba.

As such, one example of what may be expected at the upcoming Durban II conference can be seen through the results of a recent committee tasked with drafting for Durban II, whereby Iran and Syria asked that provisions against Holocaust-denial be deleted. Syria also requested that mention of the Holocaust should be minimized as the Syrians claimed that there is "no agreement on the consensus on the percentage of those who perished in the Holocaust."

The fact that Holocaust denial is gaining a prominent place at a United Nations-sponsored conference ostensibly devoted to combating racism is troubling and beyond hypocritical. It is nothing short of a Kafka-esque scenario when some of the world’s worst human rights abusers are not only let off the hook, but chair an international conference on the issue.

For over a year, European leaders have made important statements that they will not tolerate the virulent Anti-Semitism that was on display at the first Durban conference in 2001. The Durban II committees have had ample time to prevent a repeat of the debacle from the first Durban conference.

However, with only a few weeks left before the UN conference convenes, and no wholesale improvements on the draft language expected, Europeans are waiting for their elected officials to show their leadership on human rights and Anti-Semitism by announcing that they will not take part in Durban II.

Georgia Live Updates

CNN's Matthew Chance reported this afternoon that thousands of Russian troops were advancing from the abandoned city of Gori to the Georgian capital Tbilisi while there is supposed to be a EU brokered cease-fire going on ... shattered.

(Update: the Russian ambassador to NATO just consigned the information to the realm of Georgian propaganda. That is an obvious lie, as several Western journalists have reported live as the convoy passed them by. Update: EUX.TV here relates how the Russian propaganda 'hymn sheet' works.)

It is now becoming apparent that the Russian action was planned long in advance. Georgia, by reacting to the provocations allowed itself to fall into the trap. History being confined to the dust bin, collective memory had forgotten the Russians excel at chess: the art of thinking several moves in advance. Apparently it started in July with a cyber attack, but it is difficult to discern where that originated.

(Update: U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday during this press meeting that the Georgian/S. Ossetian/Russian skirmishes are a piece of regional folklore, traditionally held each year during the month of August; this year, according to Gates, things got a bit rough and spiraled out of hand - the trap was set.)

The vanguard made up of troops fresh from Chechnya, Ossetian paramilitaries - balaclavas and all - were moving in their wake. It has been confirmed it is mostly these irregulars who are responsible for the looting and mayhem, alcohol heavy on their breath. The Georgian army has collapsed.

Things being that fluid, others report that the convoy has already been diverted but it is about 50km removed from Tbilisi. The target seems to be an arms depot outside the capital which Russia wants to destroy.

The Russians are peeved that the West questions their motives for their actions. What's so hard to understand in Russians wanting to protect Russians? This would be more believable had they stayed in South Ossetia and hadn't they had a history of utter contempt for human lives (even for those they say to protect), and lost all sight of proportion.

President Saakashvili in an interview this afternoon called some Europeans naive. This is an understatement. Saakashvili himself is also not untouched by naivity, not realizing that Europe's Pragmatist leaders have long moved beyond democratic ideals (tainted by the much vilified neocons).

How far the postmodernists in Europe have got removed from reality becomes apparent when one hears the comments along the lines of 'power politics has no place in the 21st century' -- surely their moralizing and threats of isolation will deeply impress the muscle men, whose rhetoric isn't matched by their actions.

To the evolved politicians this is a fresh opportunity to delete another national border. The vista is a human race in which no one has a claim to national real estate (Sweden is leading the way). The abomination of racist, ethnic homes, like Israel and Greece must belong to a primitive and unenlightened past.

The new ideal are empire-style entities like today's Russia, power-blocks ruled by power-sharing bodies made up by quotas of minority representatives. Meet transnational progressivism. And we all lived peacefully ever after ...

For Russian collectivists there's also good news. After all, communism was only a means to an end: the state would collapse to bring about a global, multicultural collective. This is precisely what the KGB moralized tranzies are trying to establish. Their weapon: states that do not comply will be shunned. It's global tribalism.

The EU has managed a joint declaration, but an East vs West division is inevitable. The new Europe (former Warsaw Pact countries) having had experience with Russian hegemony, have positioned themselves squarely behind Georgia. Italy and Germany are gas dependent on Russia, the rest are simplistically relativized, meaning - since Saakashvili overplayed his hand both parties are morally reprehensible aggressors - end of story. The EU will send humanitarian aid and observers into the area.

The first American aid flight just arrived in Georgia. Condoleezza Rice is flying tomorrow to Paris and then on to Tbilisi.

Cyprus - Kosovo - Georgia: anybody see a pattern here?

Among the fall-out of the ongoing conflagration in the Caucasus might well be the materialization of Robert Kagan's thesis posited in his last book, "The Return of History and the End of Dreams," or the return of autocracy and old-fashioned power politics, which marks an end to the Utopian approach to transnational diplomacy (book reviewed in "The Newest World Order").

The tome is a sequence to "Of Paradise and Power," an essay that dealt with the world order that emerged from the early post Cold War period. It was characterized by the tension between the European model of bottomless diplomacy and global peace through interdependence versus the American geopolitical approach, calculated to deal with a more Hobbesian view of a world in chaos. (Something along the theme of 'Europeans are from Venus and Americans are from Mars.')

The Russian performance in the recent days in Georgia generally proves the correctness of American realism. Natural law is constant and human genes (or any other for that matter) do not evolve in ways that enable the species to propel to a higher level of moral order (the Materialist imagination in that respect is an endless source of inspiration for Hollywood SF productions). Pacifism and appeasement may do something beautiful towards the Left's feel-good factor, but on the other hand it tolerates, aids and abets evil.

Although Hume's law - confusing is with ought - is a central Postmodern mechanism for dodging reality, the recent cataclysm in the Caucasus shows how dangerous a place planet Earth can be if we don't stop whimsical interventions given in by emotion, that is more often than not just tacky sentimentalism on the part of public opinion, played on by a biased media.

Rewarding claims for independence on the basis of demographic dominance does not help towards ethic engineering, genocide, ethnic cleansing or other means of creating 'facts on the ground'. Thus invited, irredentism might well pop up soon in an area near you.

Neither intervention nor cessation are alternatives to a healthy respect for borders, an nation's untouchable sovereignty, and sacred territorial integrity. The tranzies aren't solving problems (that to a large extent are inherited from the past), their relentless assaults on autonomous states are instead creating new problems for the future.

The picture which emerges from the fog of war in Georgia is as banal as it is hazardous: emotional subjectivism firing old-world lust for power and vengeance (unexploded ordinance was found in Georgia, addressed to NATO). This is possible because in diplomacy, as is the case in other areas, objective standards are purposely being dropped in favor of a relativist world view in which everyone is right from his or her perspective.

This Russia Today video dating back five months is indicative in more ways than one. Not only does it prove the enormity of the Kosovo blunder flung back in our faces, it is also illustrative of today's subjectivism - indeed, the random whim - when the footage turns to EU representative Peter Semneby who rejects similarities between the two cases because ... "each conflict has its unique, specific character;" therefore no attention should be paid to the parallels, that moreover should not be over-emphasized ... to which the Russia Today narrator sarcastically adds that "indeed the case is certainly different from Kosovo, because unlike Kosovo, South Ossetia and Abkhazia have no support from the EU and the US.

The Russian action sends jitters bordering panic through the countries of the new Europe. Black Five's "The Devil Went To Georgia" links to this article in which the presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia issue a joint statement condemning Russia and its hegemonic games.

Another post relays an interview with Zbigniew Brzezinski who draws a few parallels of his own:

"Fundamentally at stake is what kind of role Russia will play in the new international system. Unfortunately, Putin is putting Russia on a course that is ominously similar to Stalin's and Hitler's in the late 1930s. Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt has correctly drawn an analogy between Putin's "justification" for dismembering Georgia -- because of the Russians in South Ossetia -- to Hitler's tactics vis a vis Czechoslovakia to "free" the Sudeten Deutsch.

Even more ominous is the analogy of what Putin is doing vis-a-vis Georgia to what Stalin did vis-a-vis Finland: subverting by use of force the sovereignty of a small democratic neighbor. In effect, morally and strategically, Georgia is the Finland of our day.

The question the international community now confronts is how to respond to a Russia that engages in the blatant use of force with larger imperial designs in mind: to reintegrate the former Soviet space under the Kremlin's control and to cut Western access to the Caspian Sea and Central Asia by gaining control over the Baku/Ceyhan pipeline that runs through Georgia. Clearly the West's interventions in the former Yugoslavia are the Russians' frame of reference. Interviews with Russian representatives are laced with allusions to the Kosovo war and the Western push for its independence. On Monday on CNN we see the Russian Dept. Foreign Minister Sergei Ivanov openly comparing the Russian assault on Poti with the NATO's bombardment of Belgrade, repeated not three hours later by the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee, Konstantin Kosachev MP. (EUX.TV even calls it the Russian "hymn sheet").

Evidently, things do not compute. The Black Five post anticipates the slowly galvanizing opinion in circles of the European Left in observing that ... "For those that are still fixated on the idea that Georgia started this and Russia simply responded, answer me how what appears to be multiple combined-arms groups just happened to be able to respond so quickly, including the sortie of parts of the Black Sea fleet? It takes a lot of time, planning, and even movement and stockpiling of logistics to make that happen. The troubling question raised is how was it missed by -- apparently -- so many?"

Russia's newly acquired sensitivities concerning the humanitarian situation in the breakaway territories along with accusations of genocide and ethic cleansing throw back into the West's face their own novel pretexts for violent intervention in the former Yugoslavia. In geopolitical terms this is the logical blow-back from the West's bombing of Belgrade and Kosovo's independence (for as long as it isn't integrated in Greater Albania).

Front Page: "Cold War II?" writes: "Now in retaliation, Russia sees the opportunity to inflict the same fate on America’s Caucasian ally. It reasons that if Serbia is divisible, then so is Georgia. Like the Albanians in Kosovo, the Abkhazians and South Ossetians should have the right to secede if they do not want to remain part of Georgia. And they don’t. As proof, many people in these two rebellious areas, as many as 90 per cent according to one report, have taken Russian citizenship" ... a clear case of demographic engineering.

During a press meeting in Moscow this afternoon French President Nicolas Sarkozy, when asked if replacing the Russian peace-keepers in the two separatist territories in Georgia with neutral, international troops might help the situation, Russia's President Medvedev rejected the notion categorically. Indeed how else can the traditional machinations be applied? "Russian Imperialism - It's Back":

"In Transnistria, a secessionist area of Moldova, Russian “peacekeepers” have kept the local gang of unreconstructed Stalinist smugglers since the early 1990s, and in Abkhazia, another breakaway Georgian territory, it is the same “peacekeepers” and mercenaries who have ethnically cleansed the Georgian majority and annexed the area. The pattern has been the same in Abkhazia and South Ossetia – Russia has unilaterally granted citizenship to the secessionists and then, when Georgia has tried to recover its territorial integrity, claimed that it has the right, and duty, to defend its “citizens” - a claim repeated on August 8 by President Dmitry Medvedev, and reminiscent of the old Soviet “struggle for peace” in places like Afghanistan."
