The Truth About Terror
It's time once more to post another remarkable piece by Dutch Iranian university lecturer Afshin Ellian. For a while I feared he'd gone all postmodern on me, but if so, he has now largely made up with present outstanding piece on the killing of Neda Agha Soltan at the hands of a Basij militiaman.
A similar movement can be discerned in the broohaha over the propaganda flotilla of Free Gaza, while the same people keep stumm over the Iranian clamp down of the Green rebellion.
Regime change in Iran would have been the best bet yet for peace in the Middle East. Yet the implied notion of the ideas proposed by the islamophiliacs for improved relations with Muslims, is to sacrifice the tiny postage stamp that is the nation of Israel.
- Caption: Atlas Shrugs posted a photo of Neda wearing a Christian crucifix, first published on an unspecified German site -
These people have really somewhere lost sight of reality. Otherwise they would have remembered that Israel, since its legitimate inception, hasn't had a moment of peace. "The occupation" of which they speak is a result of the wars against Israel. The former PM of Spain, Jose Maria Aznar has stressed that again in an article in Times this week entitled "If Israel Goes Down, We All Go Down".
Aznar also announced the foundation of a new Israel support group, Friends for Israel, an initiative he took with a number of other prominent thinkers and politicians: the Northern Ireland politician David Trimble, British historian and journalist Andrew Roberts, the American former ambassador to the UN John Bolton, the former President of Peru Alejandro Toledo, filosopher and former President of the Italian Senate Marcello Pera, the Italian author and politician Fiamma Nirenstein, financier Robert Agostinelli and the Catholic apologist and author George Weigel.
In the meanwhile things are really heating up in the Middle East.
Turkey has made a 180 degrees paradigm U turn and has turned its back on the West. On the insistence of the loony West democracy's watchdog, the Turkish army, was sent to barracks and the Islamists won the day. Erdogan has already embraced Iran and Syria. He may even have strategic aspirations regarding the reconstitution of the Caliphate. Syria is back in charge in Lebanon, without anyone in the 'international community' crying foul over unacceptable meddling.
Hezbollah in the south of Lebanon has replenished its arsenal under the watchful eye of the UN peacekeepers (Iran state press claiming "UN confirms there are no hidden missiles in Lebanon").
Two weeks ago we witnessed how Israel was forced to trade security and sovereignty for propaganda with the terror flotilla. The Turkish model of the m/s "Mavi Marmara" was so successful that repeat performances are already under way. Lebanese and Iranian vessels, laden with martyr wannabes have been despatched to break the blockade of Gaza. The latter did so with unapologetic support of the regime.
Here's the gist of Ellian's post (partly paraphrased, partly verbatim translation).
Iran showed its true face with the killing of Neda Agha Sultan on June 20, 2009. The world stood by as she died. She wanted human rights and democratic principles. The regime wants laws based on the Koran, sharia and theocracy.
Neda was killed by a Basij, a member of the Islamofascist militia. A few days prior to her death she spoke to a couple of female police officers. They told her an awful truth: "Honey, you should stop going to these rallies, because you are too beautiful. They hate beautiful women. They hate beauty. I know them. Please stop going".
The regime and the militia are targetting beautiful women, because in their minds they must be secularists. Only secular women dare show their beauty. The Islamists hate everything human and beautiful. (Dare I say they share a value here with western Leftists, who also hate anything outstanding, such as wealth and wisdom.)
Neda was killed. There's newly discovered footage of her sad death (warning: explicit!). Antony Thomas has produced a documentary about Neda and her life. It also explains the Green movement and what it entails. It's an impressive document available in three languages: Farsie, Arabic and English.
"For Neda" is narrated by Shohreh Aghdashlo, a successful, Emmy Award winning actress who played in "House of Sand and Fog
Shortly after Neda's death CNN secretly dispatched a young Iranian journalist to Tehran to interview her family. Who was she? In many ways a girl like any other in any other place in the world. But this wasn't just anywhere. This was the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In his last statement Mir Hussein Mousavi has laid out the Green movement's manifesto. Three concepts are standing out: the state of law, legitimacy and freedom. Legitimacy can only be based on the will of the people.
Allah, the highest spiritual leader, the Koran and sharia law are not mentioned as sources on which the political order draws its legitimacy. Moussavi is also proposing to scrap discriminatory laws affecting women.
Who was the true master of the Basij that was responsible for the act of terror that killed Neda? According to the hadith of Abu Hurairah the Prophet Mohammed was victorious through terror - ‘Wa nosrat belro’b’ means to win through terror.
Leader Khamenei is claiming to act according to the tradition of the Prophet. The Prophet Mohammed claims that victory through terror is one of his five attributes, not of his (pre Islamic) predecessors. The narrator of this often recited hadith is Jabir bin Abdullah.
It is Mohammed's terror that took the life of Neda on June 20, 2009. This is the truth.
Update: Oh hell, the Lebanese feminazis are coming!

Pat Condell on the Cordoba Mega Mosque Project Next to Ground Zero
Shocker! Financier of Free Gaza gate crasher linked to Ground Zero Mega Mosque:
HotAir: "Founder of Ground Zero mosque part of group that helped fund Gaza flotilla"
(...) The imam behind a proposed mosque near Ground Zero is a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea this week. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website.
Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movement, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip Monday. Also Sprach Zarathustra. And What Say You, Khamenei?
Afshin Ellian is blogging today on the rich pre Islamic cultures and religions of Iran. This Wednesday marks an important day in the tradition of Zoroastrianism. But it's caught up in the crack down of the regime on dissenters.
Iran is the only Muslim country with a strong pre Islamic consciousness. For centuries people have been trying to keep the traditions alive, none to the pleasure of the Ayatollahs.
In the Middle Ages the Islamic authorities declared the people of Zarathustra dhimmis, on par with Jews and Christians. This saved their lives.
Festivities begin on the eve of the last Wednesday of the year: Chaharshanbe Suri. Bonfires are lit. Jumping the flames cleanses the soul. It is followed by the green celebrations, the feast of the resurrection of nature. Not death, matyrdom, not paradise, but life in the here and now is celebrated.
Last night millions of people in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kurdistan celebrated victory of light over darkness. The Ayatollahs have been trying for centuries to declare the festivities unislamic. This year Ayatollah Khamenei pronounced a fatwa, denouncing the celebrations as irrational perfidy.
"Irrational? Is Islamic prayer rational? Is chopping off hands in the 21st century rational? Is the adoration of a building in Mekka rational? Perfidy? Is the rape of protesters not perfidy? What is perfidy? Having sex with a nine year old girl, or the celebration of the eternal light?
Will Khamenei's fatwa be respected? Will there be no celebrations this year? What's quite rational are the security measures taken in Tehran. The leaders of the green movement, Mousavi and Karoubi have been calling for the celebrations to proceed as usual. As a matter of intimidation the Revolutionary Court convicted six protesters to death. To no avail."It started after sunset. Violent confrontations between security forces and protesters have been reported in Tehran, Isfaham, Mashhad, Ardebiel, Rasht, Boroujerd and other cities. The green movement isn't against Islam, but against the tyranny of the Islamists. Most greens want a secular state.
Watch the videos in the original post.

Upping the Anti in Iran
At the run up to the February 11 anniversary of the Iranian Revolution, President Ahmadinejad unleashed the usual rhetoric. Suitably impressed, the world is wondering what he'll do next after ratcheting up the uranium enrichment. Allow me to paraphrase what Ellian has been posting of late.
The regime is again allowing the foreign media in the country, but they're kept on a short leash. A number of notable journalists have asked their international counterparts in an open letter not to heed the directions of Iranian Security. Houshang Asadi and other prominent journalists in exile have forwarded the letter to their Western colleagues.
The opposition has requested human rights campaigners, scientists, writers and others to go demonstrate on February 11. Opposition leader Mir Hussein Mousavi said in an interview with media site Kalame, the Iranian Revolution in the end did not succeed. The goal was freedom, which to date hasn't been achieved. He emphasized that religious tyranny is the most evil and dangerous form of dictatorship of all.
While the real rallies will be held elsewhere, the Government plans to fill the streets with family members of the Revolutionary Guard, the Basij militia and mercenaries. The idea being that official press and television will be reporting on the staged state demonstrations, instead of the real protests.
The regime is very much afraid of Ceauşescu type developments. The Romanian dictator was hackled live on state television in 1989 (not unlike Venezuelan Castro wannabe, Hugo Chavez): a few days later Ceauşescu and Mrs C. were made history. So, for good measure only family members of loyalist troops will attend A/jad's party.
He's no longer able to deceive the people with cheap, nationalistic speeches. They aren't impressed with claims of upping uranium enrichment to twenty percent.
Ellian has promised daily updates throughout the coming week.

The Wilders Trial (III): postmodern ideologues at Court
Continued from Part II.
Today, the second day of preliminary hearings, Geert Wilders launched two dedicated trial websites (in English - Dutch).
It's clear the Court wants to prevent this case from becoming a trial on Islam, as Leon de Winter still hoped for in this article on WSJ. The Court rejected the request by the Prosecutor that Wilders be interrogated by an investigative Judge.
Of the 18 witnesses requested by Wilders, only 3 were accepted. Theo van Gogh's butcher, rejected - Ahmadinejad's personal cleric, rejected - 5 legal experts, rejected - Afshin Ellian, rejected - Robert Spencer, rejected.
The Judges deem themselves sufficiently sage to deal with the technical intricacies without the assistence of legal expert witnesses. They've got also ample insight into Islamic exegesis, thank you very much. Moszkowicz typified it thus: "This Court basically says: we already know." Really?
Accepted as expert witnesses on Islam are psychiatrist Wafa Sultan, and arabists Hans Jansen and his student Simon Admiraal. They will be heard behind closed doors. Apparently, the news that Islam isn't the religion of peace after all, must not be disclosed to the world.
Simon Admiraal is credited with this piece of esoteric knowledge:
In traditional Islam, Abraham (Ibraham) is considered a Muslim, as is Moses (Mousa) and Jesus (Isa). Islam cleverly incorporated Judaism and Christianity and made it part of its own dogma, but stripped it of its essences. The purpose is to prove that Islam is the only true religion and has been since the times of Abraham, "the builder of the Kaaba in Mecca". That Jews and Christians beg to differ is irrelevant. Because Islam is the last of the three Abrahamic religions, they can push this revisionism without scruples. The Court also deemed that the subjectivist indictment of "group slander" is a legitimate charge. Actually, it's an abomination! This country apparently consists of unequal collectives now, instead of equal individuals. Negative rights can only be violated by the state, but instead even private bars and tennis clubs can be dragged to court on charges of discrimination.
What's more, who's to determine what constitutes an insult anyway, let alone an "unnecessary" one?
In objective (blind) law, the choice would have been made for absolute speech rights, not for subjective 'insults' as is currently the case.
This plays right into the game of Muslim 'lawfare'. As was to be expected, Postmodernism has breeded a legal monster in which freedom can no longer be defended.
The trial proper will start at some date between 1st June and 31st October. We'll be looking forward then to an exasperating summer.
Wilders, for his part, has commented that a fair trial is now no longer possible. "This Court isn't interested in the truth." Moszkowicz phrased it best: "A Court that is overreaching itself is frightening." Indeed, postmodern ideologues abound. Or, as Aaron Eitan Meyer has it in "Stacking the Deck Against Geert Wilders", the rejection of so many experts "feeds the impression that that this is a results-driven exercise rather than a serious impartial attempt to wrestle with the profound issues presented".
An auxilary plan is already in the works: the reading out loud of 18 files full of expert testimony, for hear they will, whether they like it or not.
Update:
! One day later a verdict by a The Hague Court proves the evil that Dutch anti discrimination law produces. Apparently, Urenco producing A.Q. Kahn wasn't sufficient warning!

Of Demons and Angels, and the Left's Brutal Contradictions
Afshin Ellian has a touching post up on Elsevier. He has the latest from Iran, and it isn't good. He also tells an anecdotal story about the Left and the apparent contradictions besetting their relationship with liberty and power.
Since Ellian's post is as lengthy as it is illustratieve, I'd narrate it rather than make a verbatim translation, allowing a few annotations in the process.
We're on the eve of the ten day period in Iran, that marks the beginning of the Islamofascist revolution. The Shah was deemed a demon, the Ayatollah Khomeini, in exile in Paris at the time, was considered an angel.
The latter flew back to Tehran, accompanied by a planeload of Western journalists. They were there to protect Khomeini, reasoning in their hubris that the Shah's military would think twice before shooting all of them down.
Western and Iranian intellectuals supported Khomeini. Those in Iran paid the price with their lifes, but the Western Left's support was completely gratuitous. Until the mass executions started the French Postmodern philosopher Michel Foucault (1926-1984) used to refer to Islamists as "the regime of truth" (in fact, he wouldn't have recognized truth if he were to fall over it!). Then he changed his mind, but it was too late for many.
Western intellectuals had an enormous influence on the Iranian intelligentsia. Many would not have supported the regime, if it wasn't for their Western counterparts' seal of approval.Yet there are many in Europe and the US who still support political Islam.
Ellian brings up his own case and that of Ayaan Hirsi Ali in the Netherlands. They find only a few intellectuals in their corner. He and Hirsi Ali are "traumatized", "Islam as such does not exist", poverty breeds angry Muslims", "a moderate Islam does exist", are only a few of their justifications. Ellian: "Political Islam isn't the problem, it's us!"
In the same way the existence of Iron Curtain was ignored. To this day the Left is ever prepared to criticize Eastern Europe, because it cheered freedom when it finally came. The democratically elected government in Baghdad will probably be detested forever.
Back on the plane from Paris to Tehran, Khomeini assured the assembled journalists he wanted freedom - indeed even for liberals and communists! And he wanted a French style Republic for the people. But he secretly carried with him the draft for an Islamic Constitution based on Sharia Law.
His heirs are now scared to death, because in the coming days lots of resistance protesters are expected to hit the streets again. They are supported by ordinary Western folk, but not by our intellectuals.
To intimidate the people the Islamofascists have executed a number of prisoners. Mohmad Reza Alizamani en Arash Rahmanipour (19) were hanged for participating in protest rallies.
Ellian concludes: "Islamists lie and cheat. They represent death. This is why death will remove them. The aggressor's fate is tragic. But every game has it's end game."
Update:
Get this great post by NASA psychiatrist Dr Sanity: "WHEN DOES DENIAL BECOME SOCIOPATHY? WE WITNESSED THE PROCESS LAST NIGHT"
For some obscure reason (not really), after watching the State of the Union address last night delivered by our President, I feel I must repost some material previously written about the relationship between denial, narcissism, and sociopathy. (...) What happens when psychological denial ceases to be unconscious and becomes a deliberate, willful, and consciously evil behavior-- in spite of all the accumulated evidence of its malignant impact on real people in the real world? At that point we can safely assume that we are no longer dealing with a purely defensive structure in the psyche; we are dealing with aggressive, unadulterated sociopathy. (...) The Wilders Trial (II): the Subversion of the Law
Continued from Part I
On the eve of his trial Wilders had the fighting spirit. He's going for nothing less than an acquittal. "The truth about Islam must be told, even if this displeases some," he told a press agency
"We do so convinced of the paramount importance to talk freely in public during time of war about the nature of the enemy".
Evidently appeasers are willing to evade any sustained effort. "War? What war?" All they see are individual, unrelated, criminal incidents involving disenfranchised victims and 'extreme right-wingers' using distasteful epithets.
NRC newspaper opines Mohammed Boyeri, the murderer of Theo van Gogh may be able to leave high security jail for a few hours to take the stand at the Wilders trial. That would be the next best thing to having on the stand Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, Khamenei's most important supporter, as Afshin Ellian suggested. Word from the Court room had it that both were indeed on the expert-witnesses list, but the Prosecutor has rejected Bouyeri (he's no expert, and insane to boot).
Also the very point of the law - objectivity, one law for all as symbolized by Lady Justice's blindfold - has been abandoned. As a consequence Judges no longer judge on principle. Instead lawsuits are judged on a case by case basis 'in context'. There's a real danger of legal distrust, even arbitrary law, and the worst form of legal inequality, discrimination by the state. 'Quality newspaper' NRC observes: "The judge examines whether a statement is “unnecessarily offensive” in relation to public discourse. Judges then carry out a “contextual examination”: who says it, what he says, and what is the origin of the statement. Politicians, artists, columnists, imams and other professional participants in public debate get extra leeway.
"(...) Verdicts always have something subjective about them. The Court in Amsterdam is partly itself to blame for the public anger, by issuing an indictment that is in effect a political conviction, even before the trial against Wilders has even begun".
"Subjectivity is also inherent in the kinds of crimes Wilders is allegedly guilty of: group slander, incitement to discrimination and hatred. There's no smoking gun, just words and a video (Fitna). And the questions that need to be answered are almost philosophical: what constitutes slander? What is discrimination? What's hatred.""Almost philosophical" ... tentatively ventures a junior journalist! Still, he's about the only one touching upon the problem. I thought we were paying philosophers of law good money to preserve the orthodoxy! Also subverted by "speculative philosophers" no doubt.
Bessems commentary on the trial itself is worth quoting:
Wilders will try to turn the tables and put Islam on trial instead. Witnesses like Islam critic Arabist Hans Jansen, Salafist Sheik Fawaz Jneid, and Van Gogh assassin Mohammed Bouyeri will be called in order to prove that collating Islam with fascism, is not as far fetched as it may seem. (...) Wilders will qualify any outcome but an acquittal, the bankruptcy of the judiciary. (...)
This will probably not be the final verdict. There'll be an appeal and the case may end up at the European Court. But the test, the question if our judiciary system will hold, will be answered. This is the elite's last stand.Well, I don't know about that. This country has a long history with oligarchies, commonly referred to as 'regents'.
While the defense was concentrating today on questioning the standing of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal in the case, the Prosecution demanded the trial to be postponed, enabling further investigation and interrogation of the defendant. The latter declined the invitation, since "all that needs to be said, has already been said."
The trial was adjourned until February 3.
Let's wrap up with a few choice Wilders quotes that were tweeted out of Court:
"I've devoted my entire life to the freedom of expression; I don't want to hurt anyone; I've got nothing against Muslims".
"It's everyone's right and duty to speak up against an ideology that is a threat to the rule of law".
"Is it true what I'm saying? If so, how come it's against the law".The entire text of Wilders' speech in Court yesterday is now also available in English.
Continued in Part III.

Terror is an Art Form in Iran (Updated)
A bomb blast in Tehran on Tuesday January 12 claimed the life of Iranian physicist, Masoud Ali Mohammadi (50), a professor at Tehran University and described as a "well known figure" in Tehran. He is said to be a nuclear scientist as well as the author of several articles on quantum and theoretical physics in scientific journals. He was a member of academic associations related to experimental science and received his doctorate in 1992.
Although he was not an outspoken or visible supporter of Iran's opposition Green movement, he publicly backed opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi in the disputed June Presidential election. Before the election, pro-reform Web sites published Mohammadi's name among a list of 240 university teachers who supported Mousavi.
That makes him entirely dispensable to the regime, who have been quick to point the finger at Iran's inside and outside enemies: the opposition, America and Israel. Opposition sources fear the regime will use the assassination as an excuse for further crack downs.
Tensions are running high in Tehran where hard-liners - at the instigation of the regime - are calling for the execution of opposition leaders. Informed sources say what is keeping them from using the "China model" crack down on the resistance are the military and the Revolutionary Guard, who for now appear to have taken the side of the people.
The assassination comes during growing international frustration over the nuclear issue and the detention of 33 Mourning Mothers. The International Campaign for Human Rights said more than 100 police and plainclothes officers broke up a gathering of the Mourning Mothers in Laleh Park on Saturday afternoon. The group, formed by women whose children have been killed in recent anti-government protests, gathers every weekend at the park to call attention to the deaths.
Perhaps not yet a "China model" crack down, but five people arrested after protests during the recent Ashura holy day could face the death penalty. They will be tried for Moharebe, or waging war against God - a charge punishable by execution.
One news web site affiliated with a prominent cleric is stating the assassination is probably the work of the People's Mujahedeen under the direction of Israeli agents. Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said there are "signs of the triangle of wickedness by the Zionist regime, America and their hired agents visible in the terrorist act".
No one has claimed responsibility for the blast and at this stage there could only be speculation as to possible motives for the attack, including state terrorism and agitation. The People's Mujahedeen have denied any involvement.
Update:

JAN. 17: Ellian concurs in a post that Masoud Ali Mohammadi must have been killed on the orders of the regime itself; probably by the Quds Division of the Revolutionary Guard, sort of a Foreign Legion consisting of expat terrorists trained in Iran. The assassination was probably carried out by a Hezbollah Lebanese named Abu Nasr. Pictures of him have surfaced on Al Jazeera TV and elsewhere. It wouldn't be the first time. It even happened in Europe: a Kurdish leader was assassinated by a Quds operative in Berlin. The killer was apprehended and convicted.
- Caption: the 'funeral' of Masoud Ali Mohammadi, directed by the regime, mourners made up of security personnel. It was also an occasion for more arrests -
Mohammadi's violent death will mark the beginning of more terror against the opposition. The message is, should Khamenei fall, the Quds Division will turn Iran into a new Lebanon. It is estimated that some 3,000 armed, Arab operatives are active in Iran. The Revolutionary Guard proper is still thought to be on the side of the opposition. If they manage to neutralize the expat terrorists, this will be very good news for Lebanon, Iraq and the entire Middle East as well.
JAN. 18: Looks like this was picking a fight.

The Wilders Trial (I): the Expert Witness
Next Wednesday January 20 marks the beginning of a political show trial the likes of which have not been seen in the Netherlands in living memory.
Some have detected the insidious hand of the Organization of Islamic Congress (IOC) in the text of the indictment. Others stick to an ideological cabal in the governing coalition in which some have an interest in curbing free speech.
The Charges brought against Wilders are, "insult of a religious group, inciting hatred and discrimination". The text specifically states:
"(...) the Court of Appeal considers criminal prosecution obvious for the insult of Islamic worshippers because of the comparisons made by Wilders of the Islam with the Nazism."Regrettably the law has abandoned objective principle, and instead decided to review complaints in "context" on a case by case basis. So we are assured that present spectable will be repeated numbers of times, which in itself will have a chilling effect on the freedom of expression.
Self censorship among pundits and artists has already become common practice. No one considers the use of the politically correct Index for the media an intolerable infringement on the freedom of the press. But then, that is how incremental nudging works.
Klein Verzet Blog elaborates on a legal precedent involving "group insult" and the all important differentiation between man and his ideas. Catholics, usually good philosophers, have always understood the difference between sin and sinner.
Prof. Afshin Ellian has had a bright idea. On Friday on his blog on Elsevier (in English) he proposed as follows:
Those in power in Islamist Iran represent a pure form of political Islam. It is a unapologetic form of Islamofascism, which includes antisemitism. The self-appointed President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad often expresses himself in antisemitic terms. (Iran's ruler) Ayatollah Khamenei is supported by other antisemitic clerics holding an ideology that is apocalyptic in nature. They believe that the appearance of the 12th Imam must be triggered through strife and mayhem (like all other collectivist, Utopian narrative, CT).
Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi is Khamenei's most important supporter. He's a member of various bodies of Government. In an address on January 5 he elaborated at length on the Jewish question. (...) Geert Wilders MP should subpoena Mesbah Yazdi as an expert witness. Mesbah Yazdi must be questioned about his views on Jews. Are they rooted in the Koran?
The proceedings must be broadcast live. Islam will be on trial.(...) Let defending council Abraham Moszkowicz question him about the Jews and their tragic fate. Wilders should show him historical material and videos of murdered Iranians. Then the parallel between Nazism and Islamism will become apparent. There are indeed philosophical parallels between Islam(ism) and Western totalitarian ideologies, such as fascism, National Socialism and Communism. The evil only differs in detail and in degree. Reduced to the root these are the common basics:
- anti realist metaphysics;
- socialist and anti free market capitalism in economics;
- an anti reason, relativist and subjectivist epistemology;
- a view of man as a socially constructed victim.
- collectivism and anti individual rights.
Muslims must be given to understand that the price for living in freedom, is mutual toleration. Westerners must learn that the price of tolerating intolerance, is freedom. And freedom is the ground on which common prosperity rests. These are not vague abstractions, but very real concepts.
We shall be reporting throughout on the Wilders trial. One commentator has detected a certain tension at the Court: these people are "scared to death!" Last Wednesday during Wilders' appeal against the indictment, journalists were shut out of Court House, ostensibly for his safety. But as the pundit remarked, since when do journalists pose a security risk? The actual reason is - and this is our conclusion, not the pundit's - the Court is not only fearful of offering Wilders a platform from which to proclaim his 'abject ideas' - they're also terrified the presence of the press would reveal the event for what it is, a political show trial.

The Professor's Proposal for an Expert Witness
Next Wednesday January 20 marks the beginning of a political show trial the likes of which have not been seen in the Netherlands in living memory. If it's not thrown out of Court on it's ear, I don't think I want to live here any longer. But no worry, Afshin Ellian has a bright idea. On his blog on Elsevier he posted yesterday:
Apocalyptic
Ayatollah Khamenei is supported by other antisemitic clerics holding an ideology that is apocalyptic in nature. They believe that the appearance of the 12th Imam must be triggered through strife and mayhem (like any other collectivist, Utopian narrative, CT).
Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi is Khamenei's most important supporter. He sits on a great number of Government bodies. In an address on January 5 he elaborated at length on the Jewish question. To wit:
A depraved people
The Jews are the most depraved people. No other country, tribe or region has a people like that. The Jews see themselves as the chosen ones; spoiled, adopted children of God to whom other people, as well as animals, must be sacrificed.
The Jews are cunning in politics. They have sought cooperation with a group of Christians and have become Christian Jews. They are in charge of American politics. The West is actually ruled by them. They are secretly in charge. They sow conflicts in the world. For as long as they haven't been able to destroy Islam, they will not leave Muslims in peace.
We believe the Jews are the true enemies of Islam and the Koran. They have made this known 140 years ago (Ellian doesn't elaborate. Would suggest it is a reference to the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, a hoax concocted by the Czar's secret police, were it not it is of a younger age. Perhaps he's refering to Iranian national history, CT).
Their crimes throughout history represent this truth. Yet some Iranians are misled and refuse to accept it. They hold that instead of shouting "death to America" we should sell them our oil. They also want us to open up the same centers of perfidity we had before the revolution.
Superlative
He's also speaking in superlatives: the most this, the highest that. There are only a few thousand Jews in Iran, but there are millions of Muslims. The protesters are also Muslims, but they no longer want to shout "death to America and to Israel". Yet Mesbah Yazdi is stoking fear and hatred in the people for Jews, in order to cause death and destruction. But those terrorising the Iranian people aren't the Jews, but Muslim zealots like Mesbah Yazdi.
Murderer
Who is the murderer of the person in this video? It's the Islamic security agencies - assisted by Iranian SA, the brown shirts (Basij) - who terrorise the people. Isn't this proof that Mesbah Yazdi himzelf belongs to the most depraved, criminal mob on earth?
TrustedYet Mesbah Yazdi's speech sounds strangely familiar. Jog your mind and replace Islam with Arian race. We've heard these words uttered during the thirties of the last century. I don't intend to demonize Mesbah Yazdi.
He is allowed to hate Jews and the state of Israel. Nevertheless, the narrative is the same as Nazi propaganda. It is the style of (Hitler's book, CT) Mein Kampf (which includes Hitler's German Volk victimhood narrative, never to be underestimated as a justification for violent action: "we are under attack!", CT).
Wilders
Geert Wilders MP should subpoena Mesbah Yazdi as an expert witness. Mesbah Yazdi must be questioned about his views on Jews. Are they rooted in the Koran? The proceedings must be broadcast live. Islam will be on trial.
If Mesbah Yazdi has guts, he'll come to Amsterdam to proclaim His Kampf to the world. His safety will be guaranteed. He'll safely return to barracks in Tehran. It will be up to the Iranian people to call his criminal words and actions into question. They will do so shortly.
A Dutch Judge will have to subpoena Mesbah Yazdi at the request of Geert Wilders, MP. Let defending council Abraham Moszkowicz question him about the Jews and their tragic fate. Wilders should show him historical material and videos of murdered Iranians. Then the parallels between Nazism and Islamism will become apparent. We shall be reporting throughout next week on the Wilders trial.

A Crucial Day for the Iranian Resistance
Afshin Ellian once again throws light on the situation in Iran and has some harsh words for Obama and his postmodern foreign policies towards Iran.
What to think of the morally relativistic initiatives of John Kerry and his request for parley, while his office is flatly denying it?
In an article on Wall Street Journal Ellian explains the unique and specific nature of the Iranian theocracy:
The regime's theological nature gives it a very different perception of reality. Despite the popular unrest and growing rift between the regime and the military and clergy, Ahmadinejad has no reason to see himself as weak or illegitimate. In his world view, bolstered by people such as Ayatollah Yazde, his regime does not rely on the consent of the people or dissident ayatollahs. Instead, it gains its legitimacy by its obedience to Allah. The regime surely fears the people, but controlling the masses serves the greater cause of obedience to Allah and therefore the interests of the people are of no real importance to this regime.Ellian also has an important post up on Elsevier on events during Ashura on December 27 and today, a crucial day in the resistance against Islamofascism. As it's very lengthy I'll limit the translation to the main points:
Sunday marked the bloodiest Ashura in Iran's history. Ahmadinejad claimed the protests were stoked by the Americans and Israelis. A video shows a police car purposefully careering into the public. More video.
Sometimes police are driven into a corner by the public. Some women even try to protect them from the angry masses (photo).
Ellian, a lecturer at Leiden University of Law Philosophy ponders the question what the legal status is of a State that willfully and indiscriminately molests and kills its people? Does it still hold the Mandate of Heaven?
He answers the question negatively: on the basis of Natural Law as well as International Law, a State that no longer protects the people - indeed attacks it - has lost its moral status. It has become a criminal gang.
Since Sunday thousands have been arrested. Jails and military compounds are packed. Intelligence believes a group of professional agitators is stoking the unrest. Protesters held the streets of Tehran for at least two hours before indiscriminate shooting ensued.
Reliable sources have told Ellian the arrested are being tortured to reveal the names of the organizers: perhaps former military and Revolutionary Guardsmen, or veterans of the Iran-Iraq War. They also want confessions of Israeli and American involvement.
Among those arrested are protesters, journalists, students, political activists from the circle of Mousavi and Karoubi, and family members of opposition figures like the sister of Nobel Laureate Shrin Ebadi.
They've concocted a different plan to deal with the leaders of the opposition. Today members of the Basij militias and the Revolutionary Guard will hit the streets to demand their arrest and execution. A Government Ministry has sent an official letter to its civil servants ordering them to participate - the Iranian equivalent of the "Cuban postcard".
They've also planned to barricade Mousavi's office. If he shows up, they'll attack him.
Today is a crucial day. "Tonight will prove if the Iranian Emperor Nero, Khamenei, is capable of arresting the leaders of the opposition. If he does, Tehran will go up in flames. Islamic Nero can watch has diabolical handiwork from a distance."
Ellian wraps up in a post script: no site in the west is capable of following the historical events in Iran from minute to minute. International media often consult his blog as a basis for reports and analysis. It's also read by friend and foe in the Iranian community. In a rare show of gratitude he thanks the Editors and the readership for their loyal support.
