Politics Without a Moral Compass

Dutch MP Geert Wilders filed a formal complaint against the Labour Govt of Gordon Brown yesterday with the Asylum and Migration Tribunal. Wilders was barred from entering the UK last month, fearing his presence might interfere in some way with the island nation's communal harmony. Wilders will be appraised of the first hearing date within 28 days.

How do the followers of multiculturalism - the notion that every culture is equally valid - deal with African atrocities that are the result of primitive superstition? One thinks of the truly horrific treatment of and by witches and the slaughter of albinos, killed for the magical attributes of their body parts? How does the Prime Directive hold up in the face of so much primitive anti-humanism?

The infalsifiable and irrational belief in multiculturalism (read here why it is Fascist and evil) deals with such cases by classifying them as "part of the intractable contradictions that are inherent in life". Case closed. No, says Pope. I am my brother's keeper!

Speaking of the Pope, viewers of Dutch television are once again subjected to the dishonest public debate about the Church leader and his stance on condoms. In orthodox Postmodernism the 'logic' is running basically as follows: AIDS kills - condoms kill AIDS - the Pope forbids condoms - the Pope is a murderer.

The difference between the two positions lays in what constitutes sex. To the Pope this is a matter of free will, to be exercised between two people of the opposite sex within the sanctity of marriage with a view to procreation. In theory this position is foolproof as far as the prevention of AIDS is concerned.

To Postmodernists sex is more or less the opposite. It is a mere pastime and everyone's basic human right, to be exercised at any time, in unspecified circumstances, between more or less consenting cretins. But more importantly, in consideration that "the natural urge is stronger than ourselves" it is located outside the province of free will.

This brings the discussion back to the very basic question: does man have free will? To Postmodernism it is absolutely vital that this question is answered negatively, or the entire, carefully crafted edifice of fallacies hangs by a thread! It is the prime underpinning of Darwinism, Kantian ethics, Leftist sociology and psychology, multiculturalism, and every other ism that upholds the absence of objective morality.

The Left (and Postmodern Right), when vowing to bring rubber profylactics to Africa by the jumbo load, dismiss the fact the condoms also constitute a license for promiscuous behavior, which in turn - together with its 13% unreliability rating even in Western circumstances (!) - entails a considerable risk as far as AIDS prevention is concerned.

The question arises, who is subordinating human life to dogma here? Whose position is in conformity to reason, and whose isn't?

There was a time not that long ago when Westerners knew precisely which political system is in accordance with human nature, and which suppress it. Just after World War II elementary schools taught students that the problem was situated in ideals about the total state. Prime examples of evil systems were Communism, National Socialism (Nazism) and Fascism. This was, so was explained, because total states use individuals as mere pawns to serve the whole.

When Ronald Reagan in the 80s of the last century coined the term The Evil Empire, everyone understood accurately that he was referring to the evil suppression of dissenting individuals in the Soviet Union. When fanatical students during the Iranian Islamo-Marxist Revolution kept the American Embassy and its 52 diplomats hostage over the course of 444 days, no one in the West had any doubt that this was a prime display of wickedness.

All this did not apply to the fringes the Postmodern Left. Granted, Nazism and Fascism were seen as the epitomy of evil but any Leftist equivalent - from Marxism-Lenism to the Asian agrarianism of Mao and Pol Pot - have been defended by some to this very day: the theory of collectivism is good, but it's the operatives who perhaps have made a few mistakes in implementing an otherwise morally superior theory.

Ignoring the corpses piling up, amongst those unrepentant apologists is the clique of former 'domestic' terrorist and member of the Weather Underground, Professor Bill Ayers.

Enough has been said and written during the run up of the US Presidential elections about Barack H. Obama, his prior connections to those far Left radicals and their (neo) totalitarian, authoritarian tendencies. So there is no surprise if overtures to evil regimes, such as Iran and its proxy Syria, do not register on the compass of the Obama administration on the no-no side of ethics. On the contrary!

European politicians have long been relativized, as a matter of fact, ever since the Utopian collectivist one-human-race end-games were sketched by German philosophers Kant and Hegel some two centuries ago. Firmly on the positive side of the ethics compass registers wheeling and dealing, the striving for transnational union with the rapists of human rights, those fanatics who perpetrate all manner of violations, ranging from the violent oppression of women, to the murder of homosexuals to the repression of religious and ethnic minorities.

Rather predictably the Obama overtures are already being dismissed by Iran, and rewarded with blackmail in the case of Syria. That's what you get when dealing with thugs! Ask Neville Chamberlain. Who's to say what's next? A Kim Jong-il generated test, as Joe Biden famously suggested there might be?

Today's headlines are screaming for attention, and which one should be first in the line of fire. The most optimistic one comes from the escapist socialight section and deals with La Spears, who's been in a minor traffic accident. From there on the overall picture deteriorates rapidly. In no particular order ...

From the Religion of Peace: frankly, what's worse? The death cult itself, or naive Christians of the relativist variety, who labour under the cyclic fallacy that "no religion is ever 'wrong', otherwise it would not be a religion, and since Islam is a religion ..." (seriously!).

An explosion in a southern Iranian mosque that killed 10 people and wounded 160 after evening prayers Saturday night was caused by negligent handling of live munitions, not a bomb as first suspected, Iranian media reported. (...) The police commander said the munitions were apparently left behind after a "Sacred Defense" exhibition was held at the mosque, which also serves as a cultural center. Local militia groups - known as Basij - often use the mosques for meeting places. (...) >>>

How does that tally with David Pryce-Jones' article? Do we get the governments we deserve? Those who voted them in office - no less than three times - certainly do. Trouble is, there's no second Maggy to clear up this unholy mess! It may well be too late for that anyway! Brown meanwhile, appears to in free fall ... that's a start!

Sunday School Theology for a Time of Crisis

In a posting on Chiesa yesterday Sandro Magister writes as follows:

The letter from the 138 Muslims addressed last month to Benedict XVI and to the heads of the other Christian churches received a spectacular collective reply in a message signed by 300 scholars and published in "The New York Times" on November 18.

The message originated in the Divinity School of Yale University, specifically through the initiative of its dean, Harold W. Attridge, a professor of New Testament exegesis.

The signatories belong mainly to the Protestant confessions, of both "evangelical" and "liberal" strains, and include such a celebrity as the theologian Harvey Cox. But the list of the 300 also includes a Catholic bishop, Camillo Ballin, the apostolic vicar in Kuwait. Other Catholics include the Islamologist John Esposito of Georgetown University and the theologians Donald Senior, a Passionist, and Thomas P. Rausch, a Jesuit from Loyola Marymount University. Also Catholic – although at the margins of orthodoxy – are Paul Knitter, a specialist on interreligious dialogue, and Elizabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, a teacher at Harvard and a feminist theologian.

The message lavishes praise upon the letter of the 138. It endorses the letter's contents, or the indication of the love of God and neighbor as the "common word" between Muslims and Christians, at the center of both the Qur'an and the Bible. And it prefaces everything with a request for forgiveness to "the All-Merciful One and the Muslim community around the world."

This is the reason given for the request for forgiveness: "Since Jesus Christ says: 'First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye' (Matthew 7:5), we want to begin by acknowledging that in the past (e.g. in the Crusades) and in the present (e.g. in excesses of the 'war on terror') many Christians have been guilty of sinning against our Muslim neighbor."

In releasing the message, its promoters announced that it will be followed by meetings with some of the signers of the letter of the 138, in the United States, Great Britain, and the Middle East, meetings that will also be open to Jews.

Magister starts his article on the subject with a question contained in the title "Why Benedict XVI Is So Cautious with the Letter of the 138 Muslims", which he rhetorically answers with the assertion that what Benedict wants is a dialogue that is completely different. "The pope is asking Islam to make the same journey that the Catholic Church made under pressure from the Enlightenment. Love of God and neighbor must be realized in the full acceptance of religious freedom.

God bless Pope Benedict! The former Professor Ratzinger of Theology and Philosophy at the Regensburg University is a unique, shining light of reason and intelligence in a world which is self-destructing under the debilitating madness that is called Postmodernism. What can a person say when dumb struck by a protracted exercise in jaw-dropping?

The School of Non-thought that equates all uniformed men with Nazi brutes and cannot for the hell of it perceive any difference between BushHitler, Nazism and Zionism, has made devastating inroads into organized Christian religion over the past decades. It has been gnawing away and sclerocizing its vital organs like a malignant form of cancer.

Although God knows that Roman Catholicism has been plagued by its own brands of virulent, post Vatican II, politically motivated heresies, it is Protestantism that is really seriously in trouble. I think the obituaries on the Episcopalian Church have all but been pronounced. The sclerotics collected in the Emergent Church are simply too much deluded to understand that they are being used and that what they are proclaiming, is directly opposed to the Christian message. False prophets and scions of Satan indeed!

At the present time of deep social, cultural and religious crisis this putrefied collection of hypocrites that calls itself the followers of Christ have seen fit to reply the Muslim letter in the most debilitating terms imaginable - oozing false humility: the infantilized platitudes are not even fit for a sub-quality Sunday school!

Forgiveness indeed! For efforts to roll back the Muslim conquests of the Holy Land, the Levant, and Outremer? For defending Christian lands in Egypt and Asia Minor against Islamic onslaughts? For throwing them out of Al Andaluz? For driving them back at Tours and Vienna? For excesses on the War on Terror: moral trauma in the defence against a brutal, barbaric, blood-thirsty, indiscriminate war declared on Muslim, and Infidel civilians alike? These people are red hopping, criminally insane!

I think we shall find that the invitation to the Jewry, when push comes to shove, will "not be opportune at this stage", and that Pope Benedict in the end - in the most woolly, theological terms possible - will have to distance himself from the whole affair ... but that last may be wishful thinking on my part.

I pray to God that he may keep us from the Postmodern All-Merciful One and that bees may pee upon them all!
