Obama is NOT the Most Liberal Liberal to Have Run for Office

On the late day the news was suppressed that a major Obama speech writer has broken rank, rummaging through an rather amusing PUMA blog - Hillbuzz - the winning meme hit consciousness level: Obama is not at all "the most liberal Democrat that’s run for president in as long as anyone can remember" ...

... Obama is NOT a liberal at all!

In "The Hidden Sinisterisms of the O Campaign" we introduced Global Labor, a unionist blogger who is perturbed by the Obama 'authoritarian' influence on education. He asserts that Obama's eduction adviser, Prof. Linda Darling-Hammond - like Ayers - is persuaded of the justice of the 'educational debt', reparations due to black citizens as 'historically oppressed." This theme is classical Marxist dialectic, pointing to the Marx assertion that Capitalism breeds happy peoples because it exports oppression to the Third World (never mind that African Americans are well, Americans).

If Obama doesn't share the Marxist beliefs with his former Chicago Annenberg Challenge board colleague Ayers, then why does he have (or has had) Mike Klonsky serving on the campaign blogs, answering matters pertaining to education and 'social justice', as Global Labor alleges? Both Klonsky and Ayers emerged from the SDS: whereas Ayers started his Weather Underground mob, Klonsky - via the October League - founded the US Communist Party (Marxist-Leninst) (CP (ML)), which was officially sanctioned by the Chinese regime.

The confusion in the political landscape could not be more profound. A leading Dutch magazine came up the other day with "Dutch liberals might become disappointed in Obama, because he is not as liberal as they think he is". That would be because - in order to win American Presidential elections - candidates have to 1. pretend to respect the 2nd Amendment (right to carry arms); 2. support the death penalty; and 3. pretend to be a Christian of sorts. The case is however altogether different.

No, Barack Obama is no liberal, and certainly not The Most Liberal Ever. He's an old fashioned, authoritarian, top down, commie nomenklatura. It's John McCain who's the real liberal, as some would have it ...

Every so often in this blog we make an effort to explain what is wrong with the current entrenched alignment of political parties, and that the American notion of liberals and liberalism is flawed. The last time we made such an attempt was in "Credit Crunch Critical for Survival of Capitalism." The American uptake of liberalism is actually Socialism light, which is directly opposed Libertarianism.

Confused? Luckily we now have the availability of the online Ayn Rand Lexicon in which the matter is explained better than we could ever aspire to. Consider:

The choice—according to the proponents of that fraud—is: a dictatorship of the rich (fascism) or a dictatorship of the poor (communism). That fraud collapsed in the 1940’s (...) >>>

Obamania and the Psychology of Fear and Guilt

On the lighter side of politics and for the fence-dwellers, here's a rather good "who's your ideal candidate?".

In the bubbling cauldron of campaign passion a number of writers have taken a more contemplative attitude, analyzing the psychology behind Obamania that has taken the US by storm. Fouad Ajami on Wall Street Journal in "Obama and the Politics of Crowds", subtitled "The masses greeting the candidate on the trail are a sign of great unease," looks at the rather worrisome phenomenon of Third World style crowds.

It reminds him of what the media terms 'the Arab Street': "the tragedy of Arab political culture has been the unending expectation of the crowd -- the street, we call it -- in the redeemer who will put an end to the decline, who will restore faded splendor and greatness. (...) the faith in the Awaited One lives on, and it would forever circle the Arab world looking for the next redeemer."

Third World style demagogy of the meaningless platitudes of 'change' and 'hope' could just as easily turn into Third Reich passionate rhetoric. After all, there is no basic difference between tribal societies and totalitarian ones. From the faintings and hysterics at the mass rallies you'd have thought the nation was decimated by famine and pestilence over the last few years!

What we see is a collection of hedonistic Narcissists, force-fed on dialectically induced self-loathing through Ayers' educational reform. They're simply unable to deal with the surge in cognitive dissonance as a result of their idealistic self-image as caring, generous people, that clashes with the cultivation of intense hatred, of which Bu$hitler has been the main recipient.

Of course these drones are largely Subjectivists, meaning that they've substituted reason with emotion as a cognitive tool. At some point they'll find that feelings cannot guide them, but that they can experience no emotions save one: terror. To escape from its impotence they seek safety in numbers, a frantic desire to belong and attach themselves to some group, gang, clique, whatever hive.

For certain is, that the choice for Obama as the next POTUS is an emotional one, made on the basis of the dangerous potion of guilt and fear: the hope of white redemption. Policies (or lack thereof) are irrelevant to most, only few bother to rationalize their choice.

David Kupelian in "Yes, Barack Obama really is a Manchurian candidate" explains the power of guilt, of which - it must be said - Democrats, as the party of the KKK and segregation - may suffer more than - say, Evangelicals.

"(...) Americans – even though slavery and segregation are long gone from the national scene – still have a large and understandable reservoir of collective guilt over its past exploitation and mistreatment of blacks. Guilt is a fantastically powerful factor in all of our lives. (...) When we're guilty we try to relieve this inner conflict, and this is often a good thing. (...)

Manipulative and unprincipled humans soon discover how to use our guilt to get their way. They can even make us feel guilty when we haven't done anything wrong – for instance, by way of false accusation, a tactic the left has perfected. (...) With white voters in particular, there is a strong urge to finally move beyond our collective guilt over slavery and to prove, once and for all, that we're not a nation beset by racism – by electing a black president.

It's not an exaggeration to call this guilt-induced way of looking at Obama, this conditioned attitude, a type of trance. We hold him to a different standard, we see and feel (...) a desire for his success (...) all based on guilt. But love based on guilt is not real love. It's just an unconscious attempt to rid ourselves of guilt. Shelby Steele, author of "White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era," puts it this way: "[Americans] struggle, above all else, to dissociate themselves from the past sins they are stigmatized with." (...)

Did you ever get angry at your kids – and then find yourself "being nice" to them to make up for the guilt of having been impatient? With that in mind, consider just one of many ways guilt (in this case, racial guilt) can find its way into you: Let's say you're walking down the street and a group of black men are walking toward you, and you become fearful (very similar to the story Obama famously told about his white grandmother). That fear has a little resentment attached to it, for that's the nature of fear. But when you become resentful for any reason at all, you automatically incur guilt, because resentment is a wrong, failing way for mature human beings to respond to the stresses of life.

Now, saddled with this new guilt associated with black people, a compulsion rises up from within you to make up for that guilt – which you do by discovering a mysterious affinity for black people that wasn't there before. But that "love" isn't real love – it's all rooted in guilt and resentment (just like when you got impatient with your kids, then suddenly became "nice" to them to compensate for your anger). Although my example here centers on race, this guilt principle is universal. (...) read it all, also why Barack Obama really is the Manchurian candidate >>> (read also "Who Sent Obama?").

As some would have it (and it makes sense) the MSM have made a reckless choice by putting all their cards on a "monolithic, single-party government [which] will crush the alternative media via a revived Fairness Doctrine, re-invigorate unions by getting rid of secret votes, and just maybe, be beholden to people like you in the traditional media for getting it there".

But once the ideology driven collective unfolds, perhaps they'll realize too late how much they've got to answer for. In an age of indoctrination induced self-loathing dictators rise because men do not know their own course, and values have no means to resist his promises and demands. A nation does not learn from disaster, it only does from discovering its cause.

Let us call it a day by drawing attention to the activities of a fellow Objectivist, a great campaigner for the Jewish and American cause ...

Pomo Obama for Justice

Mary Grabar's post on PJM's "How Critical Race Theory Molded Obama" tells of Subjectivism and how it is applied to the field of justice. Obama, it would appear, is full of it ... "at least by his teaching and academic background" as a student of Professor Derrick Bell, to which we might add, and by the company he keeps.

Grabar cites the infamous Duke lacrosse rape case as an illustration of things to come.

It wakes us up how closely related Postmodernism is to Nazism and Marxism - in fact, to all forms of Socialism. All stem from the same branch of thinking. That, of the anti philosopher Immanuel Kant, who sought to fashion a form of philosophy that could deal with the contradictions that emerge, when applying reason to religion. In the process he achieved the most earth shattering feat in the history of thought: he perverted all three, religion, philosophy and reason.

As Grabar's post shows, Postmodernism is directly opposed to the philosophy of America's Founding Fathers. Which once again stresses how iconic the essentially neutral term of Change may be for an Obama tenure. Shocked? You should be. People do not know ten percent of the vileness of Subjectivism, which is responsible for all measure of pomo vice, from moral equivalence to the personal attack.

You'll also be surprised how racist Critical Race Theory is. How pernicious and typical to Postmodernism it is, can be gauged from the Wiki: the theory states to oppose "the continuation of all forms of subordination," whereas its basic premises lead to precisely that.

Welcome in the wonderful world of Subjectivism. It centers around the anti modernist approach to 'logic', which thrives on contradiction. Hegel referred to his work with the Orwellian term, 'New Reason'.

As opposed to "all men are created equal" or "in God's image," applying the same standard to all no matter the person or the circumstances, in Subjectivist Postmodernism unequal groups are compensated in proportion to their inequality.

Apart from the absence of objective standards to ascertain how unequal a particular group is - let alone in what proportion it is to be compensated - it may be obvious to the keen observer that this is the road leading to discrimination, segregation, and Apartheid.

Grabar takes it to be Marxist, but it can be reduced much further than that. Following Kant and Hegel we see the collectivist line-up of usual suspects: Fichte, Herder, Nietzsche, Marx, the Nazi theorists, Heidegger, Foucault, Lyotard, Derrida, Marcuse, Rorty, Ayers, and now candidate Obama.

It is the road America took when it decided that blacks are so unequal, they need special rules and standards to create equality of opportunity, a Democratic pet project par excellence. This was direct action, or positive discrimination. It was supposed to be a temporary mechanism until equality was obtained, but over time it has become entrenched and is now the standard of 'fair practice' all over the Western world where it continues to create ... inequality.

While equality of opportunity morphed into equality of outcome, secretly a similar mechanism was being enforced: handicapping the more powerful groups by means of political correctness, which is essentially a self-censoring device acting as a redistributor of speech rights.

The redistributive mechanisms have the secondary (?) advantage of being utterly destructive to Western civilization, precisely because they chop away at the core values of individual rights and equality. Why are we surprised to hear Barack Obama talk of the redistribution of wealth when in race relations we've done little else but redistributing?

Multiculturalism works along the same lines, ostensibly promoting equality, but achieving the exact opposite: not mixing (melting pot) and treating people as equals, but setting them apart in protective mono-cultural tribal reservations, just like the father of Aryan race theory Gobineau and the Nazis intended. Traditionally any group member with the audacity to want out, is marked a traitor for life (see "Leftist Causes Explained").

And now we have the most dangerous variant yet: Subjectivist justice. Think about the consequences! Hey, isn't that a coincidence! Doesn't that open the road to Sharia Law? To each their own legal code?

Once you leave the principle of universal equality behind, it is just as easy to go from Gobineau (race creates culture, one superior to the other) to the antisemitism of the Nazis, or the direct action of post civil rights America, or the upcoming legalization of Sharia Law in Europe.

Irrespective which race, culture or religion is seen as superior, it is still inequality: racism, sexism, ageism, Islamism, you name it. And it's going to be the new standard for which nobody's approval will be asked. It will be ushered in very gradually - possibly under UN auspices - and by the time someone notices, outfitted with some 'justice' or 'new' epithet.

The above shoots home that Postmodernism, a belief in subjective group 'narratives,' is a very dangerous philosophy (actually, it's a fallacy). It not only holds pernicious premises, it also breads Narcissists like Ayers' Weathermen, Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin and Hitler - pathological maniacs who are willing to sacrifice millions for the sake of their misguided 'ideals'.

News for Activists: Call the Los Angeles Times!

What if the Los Angeles Times had video of John McCain toasting a known Islamic terrorist? What would the reaction be if the Los Angeles Times told everyone it had the tape, but refused the release the tape? And what if credible people who had seen the tape reported that other terrorists were in the room?

This is not a hypothetical. This is actually happening. Only it involves Barack Obama. And the Los Angeles Times has admitted it has the tape.

In 2003, Barack Obama lavished praise on Rashid Khalidi, a mouthpiece for Yasser Arafat. In the room were Weather Underground members Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. It was all caught on video. The Los Angeles Times blandly described the tape some time ago, but I'm told there is more to it than that — the tape shows enough sympathy from Barack Obama toward the causes of an Islamic radical that the American public has a right to see the tape. But the Los Angeles Times will not release the tape. Peter Wallsten, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times has seen the tape.

Walid Shoebat discusses Obama's alliance with Rashid Khalidi in part II. Khalidi's Arab American Action Network was the recipient of $ 70,000 grant from the Woods Fund, an organization which was co-chaired by Obama and Ayers. That was in 2000 and 2001 when Khalidi was a PLO operative and the PLO itself was listed as a terrorist organization. As Shoebat says: this is not a minor matter!

2001: Obama's Principles for a Socialist State (Analysis)

In the following 2001 interview with Chicago Public Radio (Hat Tip All American Blogger) we can hear Barack Obama positing a couple of important matters, against the backdrop that redistribution of wealth is a value. Under discussion is, how come 'economic justice' isn't in place yet, and how can we bring it about.

Now remember that 'redistribution of wealth' or - more politically correct, 'economic justice' - is a core Marxist principle. In fact, it is what constitutes Socialism. He stops short of advocating nationalizing the means of production, which would be plain Communism. The translation of the interview might read as follows:

1. The Founding Fathers neglected to bring about a Socialist state. They were amiss because they only instituted negative liberties (what the state cannot do to citizens), and omitted to implement positive rights (what the state has an obligation to do for We, The People).

2. The Civil Rights movement was negligent in not bringing about the revolution. They were not radical enough. We still suffer for it today.

3. The Courts are not a good tool to bring redistribution about. This is best done administratively.

Tom Blumer in "Obama’s Redistributionist Obsession" over on PJM's has a transcript, comments and a fiscal analysis ... "This is astounding stuff from a man who is one election away from the presidency. In politer tones, he is saying things that would make his mentors — Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, and William Ayers, not necessarily in that order — proud as peacocks. Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez are probably beaming too."

Roger Kimball in "The Real Obama: Forget the Constitution, Economic “Justice” Demands Redistribution of Wealth" asks the rhetorical question why "such (radical) elements in Obama’s political DNA so far seem to have little impression on the public at large". Part of the answer lies in that a large percentage of the white constituency are suffering from dialectically induced self-loathing, thanks to three decades of Bill Ayers' educational reform.

They hunger for redemption: voting the first black president into the White House would be a good start. Redistributionism, taking the form of reparations towards the black 'educational debt' under the management of Prof. Linda Darling-Hammond, would be a good follow up (see "The Hidden Sinisterisms of the O Campaign").

The psychology of guilt and fear must not be underestimated: which is why we disagree with Kimball's optimism that Obama's radicalism will fast start to register with the voters in the coming days. It's more than a thin veneer of celebrity adoration. Back to Kimball's political analysis of the Obama radio interview:

"his invocation of “formal” rights–that’s left-wing law-speak (they get it from Marx) for “bourgeois,” “insufficient,” “bad.” What people like Obama and Ayers want are not “formal” rights, but substantive ones: e.g., not equality of opportunity, but equality of result. (...) economic justice? That would require Justice to pull aside the blindfold and top-up your bank account if had less than others. (...)

"While you think about what it might mean if the President of the Untied States wanted to “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers and the Constitution,” note that Obama goes on to disparage the Constitution as merely “a charter of negative liberties”: that is, it only tells you what the state and federal government “can’t do to you.” (...) That sort of traditional political freedom is not enough for left-wingers. Ever since Marx decried bourgeois freedom as merely “formal,” the left has set out not to preserve freedom but to remake society according to a utopian scheme. (...)

From radical “community organizer” to coalitions that achieve the “power through which you bring about redistributive change.” What would Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher have to say about that? (...) Come on, Joe, you have to get beyond the old “formal” notion of rights–that quaint idea that people used to have that the Constitution was a safeguard against the government doing things to you. When it comes to issues of “political and economic justice” in this society, Joe, it might well be that the government has to do lots of things to you. Like what? (...)

As Glenn Reynolds observes, Obama's radical platform, which would ditch the Constitution for the sake of "substantive" justice, is just business as usual in academic law circles. But that of course is exactly the problem. What we are seeing here is the realization of the radical dreams of the 1960s translated from the airy purlieus of the academy to the corridors of power. >>>

Update: Atlas Shrugs is reporting that Obama, in the same interview, made the quintessential Postmodern collation: lumping America with Nazi Germany; but then, they hold humanism responsible for two world wars - the delusion is total and irreparable - but it remains to be seen if such a confused person should be the one in charge of the most influential country in the world: "OBAMA LIKENS US TO NAZI GERMANY: DER FUHRER WOULD KNOW" ...

The Comprehensive Guide to Youth for Obama

It's about time we did an inventory of one of the more worrisome features of the Obama campaign so far (besides shutting down the opposition by criminalizing them, and blackballing an endangered species, a critical member of the press - watch the Biden interview with Barbara West): the Obama Youth draft. Deny it at our peril.

To begin with, children of any age as a rule are innocent, vulnerable and impressionable. This is why we strive to shield them from predators and exploitation. Doses of reality are administered piecemeal in a controlled fashion, carefully dispensed when we believe they are able to handle a given situation.

Children lack the mental tool to discriminate, and are therefore open to suggestion. Precisely because their minds are like sponges, soaking up all information that's available to them, the totalitarians of our world prefer their pawns young, at the earliest age possible.

We would not dare to suggest - or indeed hope - that an Obama administration would ever go that far, but in an ideal totalitarian world children are a common property.

Rousseau followers have this romanticist image of the tribal village where children merrily rummage around, babies and toddlers crawling from hut to hut, soaking up wisdom dispensed by the tribal elders and wise old hags, who smoke their pipes in the soft afternoon sunlight as the women prepare the communal meal for the night's entertainment when the men come home from the hunt.

We must not forget that the tribe is the origin and the miniature of a totalitarian society. The above pastoral image is usually far removed from the actual horrors of communities in which the individual is but one element of the organic whole, that is the tribe. Individual actions might endanger the entire group, which is why they must remain subordinated to the collective.

We are coming from a situation in which the White House has been occupied by the most demonized President in the history of the United States. We are coming from eight years of Bush Derangement Syndrome, psychological denial, displacement and projection on a mass scale.

That is after thirty plus years in which Bill Ayers and his postmodernist following have been perverting education, debilitating and demoralising the mentality of entire generations of students, who therefore lack any historical perspective, minds poisoned with dialectically induced self-loathing.

Americans are at present in the process of being seduced by a personality cult figure ('celebrity' is way too mild an epithet - idol is more like it) and the electoral process has been reduced to a popularity contest. Facts and reality are irrelevant, voting on the basis of policies is out.

Watching the scene from a distance, all signs flare up in red alert, alarm bells toll at full throttle, but none of the caveats reach the general public who, as willing nymphets at the political lily pond are heartily enjoying their play of seduction with the Postmodern rendition of Peter Pan. Consider the conditions:

If children are becoming a lever in the campaign - or should we say 'movement' (see cashed screen shot of the top down "Grassroots 'Kids for Obama Parade' (Organizing)" - click to enlarge) - should we be surprised of creepy initiatives on the ground, signs that the malignant memes have long reached ground level?

The child choir "We're Gonna Change the World" is reminiscent of The Dear Leader's children and the Hitler Youth. It is disturbing on so many levels. The "yes we can" mantra is the translation of Will: remember Will? National Socialism thrived on it, reason was out - seen as middle class, and an inferior tool to knowledge. Pupils were encouraged to "think with their will." Another rather apt parody by The People's Cube is circulating, driving home the point of the mobilization of all the drones towards the cause.

At student level, we find the equally disturbing spectacle of the Obama Youth Regiment, almost reminiscent of child soldiers. Best perhaps not to say too much of this picture.

As said, one aspect of Hitlerism were the youth groups. These were case particular to the circumstances in the German interbellum, younger generations blaming the older ones for losing the Great War and holding them responsible for the devastating stipulations of the Versailles Peace Treaty.

The Wandervogel (ramblers) and Die Bunde were non-political, but they promoted Pragmatism and instilled from a young age the preference of emotions over rationality, and action over thought. Reason was referred to as 'the whore of the Enlightenment.' After the first great anti-modernist thinker Jean Jacques Rousseau, admired by all subsequent subjectivist movements, the Nazis sought to create an environment in which raw emotions and passions "as found in primitive societies and in the Orient, to give up one's individuality and merge with the organic youth group under a forceful leader," would thrive. They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

One of the worst and emotionally devastating aspects of the total state is the social pressure exerted to ensure enduring loyalty to the ideology: children spying on their parents and vice versa, and neighbors no longer able to trust each other. It's not just the isolated cases in this campaign that are disturbing: it is the pattern and the effect the dissemination of these memes have in the real world. Two's a coincidence, three is a pattern, four is good reason for a critical look up close (and there's hasn't been much of that!).

Check out this 'inspirational' slightly off Obambi blue nugget towards the cause, currently hitting the childrens book shelves: "Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope" by Nikki Grimes and Bryan Collier. "Ever since Barack Obama was young, Hope has lived inside him. From the beaches of Hawaii to the streets of Chicago, from the jungles of Indonesia to the plains of Kenya, he has held on to Hope. Even as a boy, Barack knew he wasn't quite like anybody else, but through his journeys he found the ability to listen to Hope and become what he was meant to be: a bridge to bring people together."

You still there ...? Specifically trained organizers - the Obama Organizing Fellows - are strategically placed in communities "to carry out grassroots activities" for the serious minimum of 30 hours a week. As O himself began his agitating career as a community organizer this specific module of the movement must be particularly close to his own heart. The Acorn instruction manual can possibly be integrated in its entirety in the Fellows cyllabus. This has been put in place long ago: "the campaign is no longer accepting Obama Fellow Applications. The deadline for submission has now passed." Applicants have been contacted by June 2nd.

To top that up we have Obama Truth Squads enforcing The Current Truth, the laddies of Action Wire engaging in swarming and other acts of intimidation. The Obama proposals for a national service sends shivers down the individualist's spine! It's all about group mobilization!

When are the American people waking up from their enamoration with the seducer?

Here's the latest from the official Obiden Action Center on the targetting of kids, reported by Dr Slogan's Prescriptions in "The Future Has Arrived: Barack Obama Targets Kids": "If you go to Sen. Obama’s official site and click on People you’d see — among others — a recently added category called Kids. (...)

The opening statement sets the stage: “In the words of Senator Barack Obama, the “Obama for America Campaign is a different type of campaign”. For the first time in campaign history, children ages 12 and under, have a place to go and actually vote—through their voice. What a great way to be introduced to politics and to express your support for Senator Obama.” On this one, I have to agree with Sen. Obama–this is certainly a very different kind of campaign.

The site features content for kids themselves, for adults who want to leverage others’ kids to get more votes for Sen. Obama and for parents who want to leverage their kids to promote their support of Sen. Obama. Every set of instructions is worth reading. Kids have “10 Ways Kids for Obama can get involved” at their disposal. (...)

The site offers many handy instructions for young Sen. Obama supporters, helping them to form the pragmatic attitude they would absolutely need in the Obama led nation (...) "Read it for yourself (bring a mountain of tissues and a sizable pot to puke in).

Pulling the Plug on the Press from Hell

Another day in the Postmodern dystopia, and another enigma wrapped in a conundrum solved: media bias. No, correction ... that would mean there's some bandwidth of reasonable neutrality to deviate from in the first place. They are simply 'in the tank.' Or, to put it politically correct: they're wholeheartedly practicing 'New', subjective Journalism.

I can hear the astroturfers from where I'm sitting: "The “liberal” media is a myth." "The Ayers connection is a non starter." "If there was anything to it [it being, whatever] the press would already have exposed, chewed, regurgitated, redigested and shat it out repeatedly."

Yeah, sure - we are all imagining it, it's all our own subjective consciousness ...

Forget it, the law of identity is unshakable ... the lid is off and I'm still reeling ... I'm shocked, shocked ... let's go again over 'the single, most important piece of blogging, since New Zeal published proof of Obama's socialist beginnings - perhaps I misread (yes, breaking news on a daily basis, is the joy of blogging ...):

The traditional media is playing a very, very dangerous game. With its readers, with the Constitution, and with its own fate. The sheer bias in the print and television coverage of this election campaign is not just bewildering, but appalling. And over the last few months I’ve found myself slowly moving from shaking my head at the obvious one-sided reporting, to actually shouting at the screen of my television and my laptop computer.

But worst of all, for the last couple weeks, I’ve begun — for the first time in my adult life — to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living. (...) You need to understand how painful this is for me. I am one of those people who truly bleeds ink when I’m cut. I am a fourth generation newspaperman. (...) when I say I’m deeply ashamed right now to be called a “journalist”, you can imagine just how deep that cuts into my soul.

Now, of course, there’s always been bias in the media. Human beings are biased, so the work they do, including reporting, is inevitably colored. Hell, I can show you ten different ways to color variations of the word “said” (...) we are also supposed to learn during that same apprenticeship is to recognize the dangerous power of that technique, and many others, and develop built-in alarms against their unconscious.

But even more important, we are also supposed to be taught that even though there is no such thing as pure, Platonic objectivity in reporting, we are to spend our careers struggling to approach that ideal as closely as possible [ed.: Plato is the father of subjectivism, but we get the picture]. That means constantly challenging our own prejudices, systematically presenting opposing views, and never, ever burying stories that contradict our own world views or challenge people or institutions we admire. If we can’t achieve Olympian detachment, than at least we can recognize human frailty - especially in ourselves.

For many years, spotting bias in reporting was a little parlor game of mine (...) but I always wrote it off as bad judgment, and lack of professionalism, rather than bad faith and conscious advocacy. Sure, being a child of the ‘60s I saw a lot of subjective “New” Journalism, and did a fair amount of it myself, but that kind of writing, like columns and editorials, was supposed to be segregated from ‘real’ reporting, and at least in mainstream media, usually was. The same was true for the emerging blogosphere, which by its very nature was opinionated and biased. (...)

I watched with disbelief as the nation’s leading newspapers, many of whom I’d written for in the past, slowly let opinion pieces creep into the news section, and from there onto the front page. Personal opinions and comments that, had they appeared in my stories in 1979, would have gotten my butt kicked by the nearest copy editor, were now standard operating procedure at the New York Times, the Washington Post, and soon after in almost every small town paper in the U.S.

But what really shattered my faith - and I know the day and place where it happened - was the War in Lebanon three summers ago. (...) The reporting was so utterly and shamelessly biased that I sat there for hours watching, assuming that eventually CNNi would get around to telling the rest of the story . . . but it never happened.

But nothing, nothing I’ve seen has matched the media bias on display in the current Presidential campaign. Republicans are justifiably foaming at the mouth over the sheer one-sidedness of the press coverage of the two candidates and their running mates. But in the last few days, even Democrats, who have been gloating over the pass - no, make that shameless support - they’ve gotten from the press, are starting to get uncomfortable as they realize that no one wins in the long run when we don’t have a free and fair press. (...)

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not one of those people who think the media has been too hard on, say, Gov. Palin, by rushing reportorial SWAT teams to Alaska to rifle through her garbage. This is the Big Leagues (...) No, what I object to (and I think most other Americans do as well) is the lack of equivalent hardball coverage of the other side - or worse, actively serving as attack dogs for Senators Obama and Biden.

If the current polls are correct, we are about to elect as President of the United States a man who is essentially a cipher, who has left almost no paper trail, seems to have few friends (that at least will talk) and has entire years missing out of his biography. That isn’t Sen. Obama’s fault: his job is to put his best face forward. No, it is the traditional media’s fault, for it alone (unlike the alternative media) has had the resources to cover this story properly, and has systematically refused to do so. (...)

Why, for example to quote McCain’s lawyer, haven’t we seen an interview with Sen. Obama’s grad school drug dealer - when we know all about Mrs. McCain’s addiction? Are Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko that hard to interview? All those phony voter registrations that hard to scrutinize? And why are Senator Biden’s endless gaffes almost always covered up, or rationalized, by the traditional media?

The absolute nadir (though I hate to commit to that, as we still have two weeks before the election) came with Joe the Plumber. Middle America, even when they didn’t agree with Joe, looked on in horror as the press took apart the private life of an average person who had the temerity to ask a tough question of a Presidential candidate. So much for the Standing Up for the Little Man, so much for Speaking Truth to Power, so much for Comforting the Afflicted and Afflicting the Comfortable, and all of those other catchphrases we journalists used to believe we lived by.

I learned a long time ago that when people or institutions begin to behave in a manner that seems to be entirely against their own interests, it’s because we don’t understand what their motives really are. It would seem that by so exposing their biases and betting everything on one candidate over another, the traditional media is trying to commit suicide - especially when, given our currently volatile world and economy, the chances of a successful Obama presidency, indeed any presidency, is probably less than 50:50. (...)

Furthermore, I also happen to believe that most reporters, whatever their political bias, are human torpedoes . . . and, had they been unleashed, would have raced in and roughed up the Obama campaign as much as they did McCain’s. That’s what reporters do, I was proud to have been one, and I’m still drawn to a good story, any good story, like a shark to blood in the water. So why weren’t those legions of hungry reporters set loose on the Obama campaign? Who are the real villains in this story of mainstream media betrayal?

The editors. The men and women you don’t see; the people who not only decide what goes in the paper, but what doesn’t; the managers who give the reporters their assignments and lay-out the editorial pages. They are the real culprits. Why?

I think I know, because had my life taken a different path, I could have been one: Picture yourself in your 50s in a job where you’ve spent 30 years working your way to the top, to the cockpit of power ... only to discover that you’re presiding over a dying industry. The Internet and alternative media are stealing your readers, your advertisers and your top young talent. Many of your peers shrewdly took golden parachutes and disappeared. Your job doesn’t have anywhere near the power and influence it did when your started your climb. The Newspaper Guild is too weak to protect you any more, and there is a very good chance you’ll lose your job before you cross that finish line, ten years hence, of retirement and a pension.

In other words, you are facing career catastrophe - and desperate times call for desperate measures. Even if you have to risk everything on a single Hail Mary play. Even if you have to compromise the principles that got you here. After all, newspapers and network news are doomed anyway - all that counts is keeping them on life support until you can retire.

And then the opportunity presents itself: an attractive young candidate whose politics likely matches yours, but more important, he offers the prospect of a transformed Washington with the power to fix everything that has gone wrong in your career. With luck, this monolithic, single-party government will crush the alternative media via a revived Fairness Doctrine, re-invigorate unions by getting rid of secret votes, and just maybe, be beholden to people like you in the traditional media for getting it there.

And besides, you tell yourself, it’s all for the good of the country . . . >>>

... hm, so I did misread that ... I thought for a moment the media figure themselves playing Pravda to Obama's Supreme Soviet ... what a relief!

No, joking apart, something is seriously wrong. You can take this involvement one step further. Take the basic principle of any old totalitarian: you elevate your pet ideology to the status of moral arbiter! With pragmatism kicking in, acting on this misplaced moral indignation and you're in, knee-deep. This is how maverick Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn got killed: by a Green, self-righteous defender of Islamist 'victimhood'.

Stop the Obama Constitutional Crisis: Berg No Standing

Judge Surrick ruled against Berg’s constitutional challenge to Obama’s eligibility for Office. See Berg's press release.

Surrick felt Berg had no standing as a voter to challenge the fitness of a presidential candidate.

"You’d have thought this ruling could have been made months ago," says Jeff Schreiber over on America's Right.

Berg’s trying to fast-track his appeal, but his long shot just got a lot longer. Some commentators opine he will lose the appeal too.

It seems that it’s up to the individual states to demand proper proof of birth.

The Audacity of Postmodern Indoctrinators

The constant pounding on the Obama-Ayers Axis has at least had the added value of flushing the worst bugs of the worst generation - the postmodern gargoyles of chaos - out of the academic woodwork (which is where they chose, and were allowed, to die).

Hundreds of college professors have signed a letter vouching for Ayers, which would be like Lester Maddox producing a letter from George Wallace assuring us that Maddox is a respected member of the community. No, really, I've got the letter right here! (...)

As John O'Sullivan says, any foundation that is not explicitly right-wing will become a radical left-wing organization within a few years. (...) Left-wing radicals swarm to free foundation money, where they can give gigantic grants to one another and they will never have to do a day's work. That's exactly what Obama and Ayers did with Annenberg's money. (...) It went to Ayers' left-wing crank friends to write moronic papers that we hope no one ever reads.

Instead of teaching students reading and writing, Ayers thinks they should be taught to rebel against America's "imperialist" social structure. In 2006, Ayers was in Venezuela praising communist dictator Hugo Chavez, saying, "We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution." (...) The rogues gallery of Postmodernist signatories can be reviewed on Support Bill Ayers blog. All 3.247 to date are responsible for the dumbing down, the debilization of generations of students. Now we know why the transfer of objective knowledge is no longer part of the educational system, the "history of Western hegemonic imperialism" least of all. Rather they'd redefine education as social conditioning, giving preference to self-expression of emotions over intellectual effort, and the inculcation of a myriad of correct collectivist and relativist traits and pet projects, including 'moral neutrality' and multiculturalism.

If we weren't altogether sure, we now have proof - black on white - of the main source of the infestation. The habitual traitors are located right in the heart of the American educational system, where they can be observed in action, perverting 'the system', demoralizing younger generations before they've had a chance to mentally solidify. The indoctrinators with their vile anti-humanism in the name of humanity will never be able to atone for the havoc they've unleashed.

The apologists of gulags, mayhem and plunder in the name of agrarian tribalism; the social engineers of misery; the aides and appeasers of political mass murder - all 110 million of them - cry to high Heaven; and these geriatric virulents have the audacity to come out in support of Chicago's Favorite Professor from Hell, Citizen of the Year 1997, Bill Ayers!

Why? Because if Ayers is not an unrepentant terrorist at all, but a leading prominent, upstanding educator, the personification of respectable bourgeois values, Obama - their stooge - is innocent of fraternizing with evil, and is insulated from the accusation of being prone to making exceedingly bad choices. As if Ayers were the only malignancy in a life-long chain of exceedingly poor judgment. And as if their eleventh hour middle-class pretensions are convincing anyone but the subjectivist accomplices in the lamestream media.

The rogues gallery of the counter culture was so eager for chaos and nothingness, they started the revolution all by themselves, taking the dialectic all the way to the bottom of the ideological pit. Even today the ideal of some of America’s fringe agents of hatred and radical extremism hasn't died. Now is their time to actively grab power, push their puppet, undermine the allies, while lionizing the enemies in furtherance of their totalitarian agenda. The cynical scorched earth strategy is at last paying off.

The gutter dwellers of the Underground are wrong in their assumption that 'the establishment' has lost its power to be shocked by their rejection of life as an absolute value. The trick of these preachers of nihilism in the name of the wretched, is to see to it that the wretched remain for ever wretched; championing their cause is the perpetual fuel that fires the 'struggle.' Cynical indeed. Once moved on, they will pass beneath contempt: even Lucifer will reject the bloodless souls.

The scorched earth warriors of pacifism, whose notion of highest ethics is comprised by the bromide "make love, not war" are unrepentantly persisting in pushing anarchism, the place where collectivism collapses into a black, infernal hole.

These are the Western equivalents of radical Islamism (no, this is not meant as a compliment!). Their contribution to history marks the reversal of civilization and the return to the blessings of tribal society as foreseen by arch demon, Jean-Jacques Rousseau--replete with forced intertribal child marriages, force-fed religion, and the psychosis of split consciousness.

Geriatric hippies may be worthy of ridicule for being pathetically ineffective, but their mental demons are lethal to humanity, beyond belief.

The New Party, formed by members of the Democratic Socialists for America and leaders of an offshoot of the Community Party USA, was an electoral alliance that worked alongside the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The New Party's aim was to help elect politicians to office who espouse its policies. Among New Party members was linguist and radical activist Noam Chomsky. (...)

Obama's campaign has responded to the allegations, denying the presidential candidate was ever a member of the New Party (...)

Many of the New Party's founding members were Democratic Socialists for America leaders and members of Committees of Correspondence, a breakaway of the Communist Party USA. Obama attended several DSA events and meetings, including a DSA-sponsored town hall meeting Feb. 25, 1996, entitled "Employment and Survival in Urban America." He sought and received an endorsement from the DSA.

According to DSA documents, the New Party worked with ACORN to promote its candidates. ACORN, convicted in massive, nationwide voter fraud cases, has been a point of controversy for Obama over the presidential candidate's ties to the group. In 1995, the DSA's New Ground newsletter stated, "In Chicago, the New Party's biggest asset and biggest liability is ACORN. (...) >>>

The Obama camp's denial is flying in the face of this black on white evidence, which is honestly getting a little overwhelming. Two's a coincidence, three is a pattern, anything more than that warrants digging in. The 'self-controlled' media are reduced to nothing but an Abama propaganda tool. Among the endorsers of the Obama-Biden ticket is "Youth Unite and Fight." No, it ain't the boy scouts ... but the Philadelphia Club of the young communist league usa [sic]. History learns we had better beware when reason has made place for somebody's 'will' (Yes, We Can!). Turning to the artistic side of the campaign, here's a video artist who collated the ominous Youth for Change thing together quite blatantly. Good job! And Glenn Beck has a new Obama National Anthem out. The audio is really very good, while the cartoon is getting better the more you watch it! For those with a really strong stomach there is "Kenyan Muslim School Children Singing the Praises of O".

! Here's Berg on Michael's Savage's program. Berg says he has Obama's paternal grandmother on tape admitting that she was in the delivery room when baby O was born! He also said he will be making that tape available in the next few days. Legal writer Jeff Schreiber on America's Right is confirming the news: I know for a fact that Berg does indeed have tapes of this kind in his possession -- but as the parts I heard were in a language I did not understand [and he was in the process of having translated], I cannot attest for sure that the tapes contain what Berg contends.

What is the deal with Obama's birth certificate and citizenship status?" [Andy McCarthy] The article offers this reason for not having followed it up earlier: "Admittedly, I've ignored this issue up until now on the theory that if there was anything here worth looking at, surely the Hillary and McCain campaigns would have raised it." Never assume someone else will do your job for you! - Campaigners, buzzz z up ...

This is the latest status update by Jeff Schreiber: "just got word that the decision will likely NOT be today after all. First, I was told it would be on Thursday or Friday. Then, I was told yesterday that it would be at the end of yesterday or this morning. Now, I'm being told not to hold my breath. Listen, it's understandable. No judge wants to be overturned, especially with something like this."
