Of Tribes, Liberty and Its Individual Heroes

The following subject is not fully matured, but we push it out into public cyberspace anyway, because it touches a news item that simply cannot wait.

Yahoo!News: "Saudis on hunger strike to demand judiciary reform"

A group of Saudi activists began a rare public hunger strike Thursday to demand judiciary reform and draw attention to the detention without trial of 11 political reformists. The 65 mostly male protesters plan to continue the strike they are holding in their homes on Friday. Their action in a country that bans public gatherings, protests and political parties could land them in jail.

Mohammad al-Qahtani, one of 13 activists who called for the protest, said the group resorted to the strike after the government failed to respond to letters sent to influential officials asking them to release the reformists, improve prison conditions and reform the legal system (...) The jailed reformists include Matrook al-Faleh, a human rights activist who was detained in May for advocating constitutional reform, and 10 other activists jailed in Jiddah in 2007.

The 13 men posted a statement on the social networking site Facebook to announce the strike and urge other Saudis to participate. Fifty-two people have so far signed up to join the 13 activists. They include writers, lawyers and college students (...) >>>

Give the story a Buzz z

Humans in their primitive stages, had to survive in a wild and hostile natural world. Danger lurked under every stone and in each and any shrub. A sole individual, thrown back on his own devices, could hardly hope to live long enough to tell the tale. A lone existence was a constant existential threat. So humans sought security in numbers and shelter with each other, within the safety of the tribe.

Random individual acts, which could endanger the survival of the community as a whole were not just discouraged, but severely punished by exile, shunning and worse. Morality consisted in the common good, the well-being of the tribe, the lone tribes man or woman, was dispensable.

Since the collective security is the tribe's entire reason of being, these were what we would term today, small totalitarian communities. Individuals were not supposed to have private lives, or undertake 'rogue' actions. Even today there are many peoples who do not even have a word for 'privacy', or for 'individual'.

Humanity has come a long way. In the Western world, with the onset of the Renaissance and the period of the Enlightenment, we discovered person-hood and what it means to be a man or woman. We discovered that our prime instrument for survival in a cultivated world, are our own wits. Morality shifted from collective survival, to what constitutes survival of the individual.

It is not always appreciated how far this development has helped human progress. There are forces in the Western world today that prefer humans with tribal minds. They say, some person's wits can be insufficient, that they can break down or can be fooled, so we should not use them.

Some even say wits do not exist at all, and that humans live by instinct, or by synapses and secretions, or that they are steered by God, or by the fate of some parallel universe.

They say that in our hearts of heart we are still members of the tribe called humanity and we should share whatever we have, just as in olden days. Some say we should only share things which ensure common security, others advocate sharing the things with which we produce other things. And then there are the peddlers of ideas who come for people's souls. Their morality is altruism. They say, an individual's only use consists in his utility to be tribe.

Peoples in other parts of the world walked other historical paths. They quietly wandered off the reservations in droves, other tribes held it together. Sometimes new ones were created, based on common religion, for example.

In Islam the whole of the faithful - the Ummah - is such a new tribe, replete with tribal justice to ensure its survival, and death for whoever dares to wander off, or pledges loyalty elsewhere.

The painful process we see playing out before our eyes are the death throes of the new tribe called Islam. Muslim men and women are discovering their person-hood. They're fighting for the rights that a sole individual requires to survive: inalienable, universal, human rights. Since the discovery of individualism took place in the Western context, this process from collective to person-hood is often understood by Muslims as "Islam being besieged by the West".

The Reform process which would ensure the continuation of Islam as a faith, would have to consist in practicing it as a collection of individuals, rather than as the oppressive 'living organism' of the Ummah.

The liberties are the negative rights. They lie at the foundation of the United States of America, the only country founded on the philosophy of individual rights. The Founding Fathers said these rights were given to man by God. They have two corollaries: free market capitalism and democratic government.

For some, as we saw in "2001: Obama's Principles for a Socialist State (Analysis)" - these negative liberties are not enough; they cast them aside as "just the stuff that government cannot do to you", or - in our paradigm - what the tribe cannot do to its members to prevent them from surviving on their own wits as free spirits.

The positive rights as advocated by President Elect Barack Hussein Obama, are the rights the tribe generously bestows upon its members, in lieu for their promise not to wander off the reservation on their own.

We see that the principles of negative and positive rights are markedly different in nature and in principle. They are opposites. Negative rights liberate individuals from the suffocating oppression of tribal existence. Obama's positive rights on the other hand, newly enslave individuals to the collectivism of the state.

We don't appreciate by half how rare and precious individual liberties really are. Wherever they exist, they are lone stars in oceans of collectives that seek to enslave free spirits to the suffocating risk-free safety of the tribes.

Each nation and each generation has its own battle with the tribes. Today, it is the brave Saudi intellectuals with their hunger strike. As Thomas Jefferson said, "From time to time, the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots."

We wish the Saudi defenders all the strength they need to win their battle with the tribal collective. Long Live Liberty!

Today on Articles: of Heroes, Revelation and Left & Right Hegels

Quebec has had it with the auto-erasure of Western civilization. Jean Charest is fighting back at politically motivated 'insult.' N. very B. the last paragraph of that post: that's how far this has bl*@!dy gone!

"Cultural Marxism/Multicult: fighting theofascism" - BBC: "Quebec Rejects Removed Crucifix"

What conclusion can we draw about Sharia law when a Saudi judge drops charges against a Saudi couple who systematically, willfully and most cruelly wrecked the life of a woman they used as a slave? This is the brand of justice the multicultis want us to 'get used to.' Equivalizers will no doubt point to instances of Western rough justice. Point taken. Does that make this acceptable?

"The Unspeakable File: justice by Islamic Revelation" - BBC: "Saudi Maid Verdict 'Outrageous'"

The Pomo German English Language site Signandsight chronicles on the Fascist appreciation movement in Italy. The Frankfurther Allgemeine has some frightening examples. Far more frightening examples of clear and present danger are registered here on the Leftist Socialist side (we'll get to it presently):

"Join the Nazi Appreciation Movement: frightening examples" - Signandsight: feuilletoning the Frankfurther Allgemeine

Ah, is that what it's called these days ... soccer riots? I think the blessings of the multiculture have by now become overly apparent. We ain't seen nothing yet. That's what you get if your mission is the obliteration of reality.

In the meantime the Dutch PM last night gave evidence of the gulf that separates him from the real world. The Dutch, he opined, are naggers and whiners! They shouldn't complain so much, and instead be a little more proud of their fine country!

Let's put this in some perspective. Greeks ar
e habitual naggers and whiners ... they don't get that if you keep on taking to the streets in demand of higher wages, this will ultimately translate in higher prices and inflation - but the nation is still basically in tact, bless her.

The Dutch on the other hand are light-years removed from that! They have seen their entire nation being taken over by subjectivist relativos who have nestled within the tiniest niches and capillaries of the national system. All ties with the past have been severed, all cultural connections equivalenced out of existence, and its morality crushed. And this pea wit has the guts to talk about 'negative self-perception'?

People understand very well that something has gone terribly and horribly wrong, but they are unable to pinpoint the problem and its source. The frantic desire to belong, to lose oneself in a raving crowd or in trance sounds is nothing less than a dash for the safety of the tribal collective. They are psychologically ready for the next guru, witch doctor or neotot demagogue with a plausible story. As long as he has the sense to leave Islam out of the equation because that would make him 'fasc!' But any other vacuous mantra on change to progress is just fine.

Progress Report on Operation Western Deconstruct (summary)

Part 1 "The Simple Truth" in the series of posts titled "Progress Report" looks at the reasons behind the current aggressive self-assertion that is taking place within the Islamic world, in particular where the virulent anger and hatred towards those outside it, ultimately stems from.

The short take is that Islam - as a non-secular religion that sees as its teleological fulfillment the domination of the world in a global Ummah - cannot psychologically cope with the fact that events on the ground during the last millennium or so, point in the very opposite direction. As a result they feel humiliated and offended to the core. The current upsurge might well be identified as the last chance of fulfilling that destiny. It is, after all the third such attempt, the 3rd Jihad.

Psychologists can explain how Muslims deal with that gaping discrepancy and the unremitting cognitive dissonance as a result of it. But the distortion of reality stemming from the psychological coping devices of paranoia and projection - externalising blame and avoiding responsibility at all cost - do not help in solving the sheer intractable problems that are by now felt by everyone.

Part 2 "Plugging the Holes Against Reality" posits the case of Iran, that sees wiping Israel off the map as a short cut to the fulfilment of the Islamic destiny. Shi'ite myth thereto requires the coming of the twelth Imam, an event that will be accelerated by the apocalyptic destruction of the enemy. In the Western atmosphere of appeasement and growing antisemitism throwing the rabid dog a bone, is no longer a taboo.

The ethically neutral stance that Western politicians are trying to maintain, is a philosophical myth as well as a deal with the devil. In the choice between food or poison, the middle of the road is death. Misguided? Yes, to say the least. Harmless? No. But more trouble is ahead.

Even more vigorously enforced is the idea that lumping innocent Muslims with their co-religionist terrorist counterparts is an act of unfairness and a line that will not be crossed. But at this point the reasoning is reversed, and the terrorists are lumped with the innocent. This fallacy has five fatal consequences.

Politicians and voters abdicate the moral choice between the innocent and the terrorists; 2. as a consequence the terrorists get a free pass; 3. the innocent, thus lumped together with the radicals, do not get the support they need to distance themselves from the radicals. They have no other choice than to submit to them, caught in the multicultural ghetto; 4. what's worse, any chance of reforming Islam from within is hence forfeited; 5. Westerners, seeing it their duty to defend the values of liberal democracy against Sharia type onslaughts, as well as special privileges demanded by Muslims on the basis of religious beliefs, are harassed by the radical elements, as well as criminalised by their political representatives. In Europe the fallacy has been cast into law, thus insulating terrorists and radicals even from verbal critique.

Like the innocent Muslims - who are now lumped with the radical camp, like it or not - the defenders of Western values are caught between a rock and a hard place. They might seek protection from intimidation, directing appeals through the official channels, but not for long. The current tendency is blaming the victim. The reasoning goes along lines like "as it is well known that Muslims are easily inflamed, why offend them?" Next stop: free speech, turned penalized provocation! From the looks of it, far from conducting a war on terrorists, Europe has unleashed a wave of repression on the critics of jihad!

"Progress Report", "Plugging the Holes Against Reality" also lists two cases of men running foul of such legislation. Although the details are as yet scarce (USPace seems to have some facts), one such case is an unapologetic Christian and patriotic blogger from England, Lionheart. He's running the risk of being clasped in irons the moment he sets foot on home soil, back from 'self-imposed' exile? What happened is as yet unclear, but one would assume he's committed murder and mayhem! Actually it would appear he's had a bit of a bust-up with a Muslim drugs dealer.

Part 3 "The Assault on the Rule of Law" brings up the matter of frivolous lawsuits brought against critics. It often results when money is no object. They may serve a secondary purpose: if the case is won, the advantage is favourable jurisprudence; if lost, the sued party is intimidated and diverted, and may hence serve as a lighted reminder to others like him. It's also a matter of psychologically wearing out the enemy: who's got energy (and funds) left after having fought one or two of these cases.

The third instalment also lists the case of Dr Darko Trifunovic of the University of Belgrade who is conducting investigations into the origins, ambitions and operating methods of what he calls "White Al Qaeda", the home grown branch of the terrorist franchise organization in the various areas of the Balkans. It first took foothold in Bosnia-Herzegovina after the Western powers in the 90's conspired to allow Aghan war veterans to enter the territory. Since the Dayton Peace Accord Iranians as well as Saudi Wahhabis flooded the place with funds, overbearing mosques and subversive organizations, one of which has members throughout the Bosniak diaspora in Europe, Canada and the US.

Dr Darko Trifunovic has also found new links between Bosnia and terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the London and Madrid train bombings. Specifically mentioned are Mohammed Atta who coordinated the 9/11 outrage, and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, Bosnian citizenship holder and war veteran, former Al Qaeda 'Operations Chief', who - according to Dr Darko Trifunovic - took over the leadership of the Al Qaeda media campaign ('the Committee') during the planning of the 9/11. Atta's place of residence before launching off to Hamburg and the US, was a Bosnian hamlet, 8 km outside Maglaj.

Dr Trifunovic up to now has been able to conduct his investigations from the ivory tower of the University of Belgrade in relative tranquility. When it transpired however he was invited as a forum speaker during the upcoming 11th Police Congress and the results of his research would thus become public, no methods have been shunned to intimidate him, discredit him as a person and as a scholar. With accusations of 'Srebrenica denial' and 'hate mongering' - references to laws prohibiting Holocaust denial and inciting racial hatred - attempts have been made to get him banned from the police convention; impersonations and cyber manipulation being but the least methods of choice to muzzle.

Apart from the personal injury done to Trifunovic himself, the public damage is two-fold: researchers are being harassed to prevent them from doing their jobs, interfering with the right of enquiry. The consequences of such actions on the academic level could well be considerable. The second part is even worse: the intimidation of officials conducting criminal enquiries, undercutting the rule of law, leading ultimately to mob rule.

The West's hazardous plans for the independence of Serbian province of Kosovo loom large. The ultimate purpose of the diplomatic exercise in brinkmanship is as yet covered in geopolitical nebula. "Never mind the Al Qaeda and Wahhabi influence, the Serbian heartland of Kosovo being subjected to the rule of the fifteen crime families of Albania who are up to their eyeballs involved in heroin trafficking; or that the current leader of Kosovo once led the bin Laden funded KLA, and the creation of an independent Greater Albania with its fingers in the annual $40 billion criminal drug trade steamrolling through the Balkans: it is a very progressive and enlightened ideal."

The series concludes that ... we can all go safely to sleep tonight - all is quiet on the Eastern front ...

Serbianna: "Media Release", by Ioannis Michaletos on behalf of Dr Darko Trifunovic

"For some time now, militant Islamic web portal Bosnjaci.net has been engaged in a propaganda campaign against the Serbian people as a whole, and me in person, with the purpose of preventing my appearance at the 11th Congress of European Police, where I am scheduled to speak about a European strategy for combating terrorism. They object to my existence as a Serb, and to the fact that in all of my speeches I make a clear difference between Islamic fundamentalists/mujahedin and Islam as a world religion. (...) >>>
