... on the Reform Treaty, which in an earlier incarnation was titled 'the EU Constitution', and was rejected by France and The Netherlands. According to the EU's own laws that should have been the end of it, weren't it for the anti Democratic mind set that is prevailing throughout the Union. If a measure is deemed necessary, it is pushed through, albeit illegally and in a new cosmetic coating. It's a insult to our intelligence, but there you are ... such is the legacy of the former European regents.

This sounds like what happens here in the US when we try to build the fence, but can't because some politician always stalls it out, when we try to keep free speech, but can't get rid of "hate crimes" riders that make you a felon if someone "perceives" that you don't like them because of their religion, when we try to stop politicians from interfering with free speech on talk radio, but they keep trying to pass legislation to make sure conservative shows express "differet views equally," when we block the amnesty bill, but can't be rid of it because it keeps coming back, or when we try to block the super-highway, but can't because it keeps getting pushed through anyway, or when they try to pass a ban on guns despite what the Constitution says! ARGH!!!
